When I try to connect to my Brothers server it says "Connection failed after 4 retries". We live in the same household and use the same internet. He has port foward. His friends can connect to the server fine. He has a lot of addons enabled on the server. PLEASE HELP! Is it something to do wit the port? Thanks
Connect through the local network, not internet.
How do I do this? [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] All his friends are on now but I can't get on, what is this.
He means click the Local Network tab on the Main Menu and the server should be on the list.
Not coming up on the local network. But I can try join by right clicking his name that works. But it says "connection failed after 4 retries"
[QUOTE=HabiticUniV;45646128]Not coming up on the local network. But I can try join by right clicking his name that works. But it says "connection failed after 4 retries"[/QUOTE] You can't see it on the legacy browser's 'Lan' tab?
No. [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] It's in the friends tab
That means his firewall is probably blocking the connection.
Ahh [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] But wouldn't that mean he's friends couldn't join as well because like 2 of he's friends are on right now [editline]10th August 2014[/editline] He and I just turned off our firewalls. I tried to join buy still said "Connection failed after 4 retries"
It's probably because it is making you join through his public IP try find his computers IP and then connect through the console. (I don't know if it'll work but it's worth a try.) Edit: When I say find his computers IP make him open CMD and type ipconfig then whatever his IPV4 address is, enter this into your Garry's Mod console: connect IPV4 (Replace IPV4 with the address you just found.)
"ipconfig" isn't a command it said
Where did you enter that?
his console
I meant open up a CMD (Command Prompt) just type cmd in your search bar on Windows.
IT WORKED THANK YOU <3
No worries dude.
