• Missing Maps

Hello, this is my first post on these forums, please forgive me if I post this in the wrong section. Anyways back to my issue, I'm having issues with one of my servers, nothing too complicated, but I can't seem to figure it out. When connecting to my servers, I receive an error saying the following... "Missing map maps/deathrun_tropical_island_final_fj., disconnecting" --Let's call this Server A At first glance, it looks normal, but under closer inspection, I realized it does not include ".bsp" at the end, as it should. For example, when not being able to get the map from the FastDL server and receiving the error on my other server I get the following... "Missing map maps/ph_house.bsp, disconnecting" --Let's call this Server B I am unsure what is causing this issue, but any help would be nice. Most maps on Server A work but a couple give that error. Both, Server A and Server B, are configured similarly, receiving required files from the same FastDL Webhost. My Maps Folder for Server A
That's very strange. I've never had this happen too me. If you downloaded the maps from a source like CS Banana and downloaded them from under the CS:S tab, it could be a corrupted map file and that's why it possibly is not working OR it could be using an incorrect BSP version, But usually if it's using a incorrect bsp version it will tell you from within the console. It could also be that your FastDL is not properly downloading the map file because they could be too big in size in data. But I personally don't necessarily think that it's the FastDL in question, I think it's due to the bsp's being corrupted. If you need more help, you are more than welcome to add me on steam.
The Maps don't seem to be corrupt ( I can add change server map to it and play it on single player ) How do I check the BSP version My FastDL has a file that is larger than 36000000 Bytes while the map mentioned was only 5000000 Not sure what's the problem, but if you have any recommendations, I'd be more than happy to hear and try them
what ur fastdl link?

.bz2 is a compression method Garrysmod uses in order to send clients files. Not sure if you knew that, but .bz2 is the only compression method Garrysmod understands how to use. If you notice, they are [mapname].bsp.bz2. Try opening the .bz2 with a rar viewer and such.
I'm pretty sure that you don't need to compress map files. Download the map's again (Do not compress into .bz2) and then re-upload it to the FastDL. This should 99.99% work. If it doesn't i apologize, But it's worth a try.
I'm pretty sure they don't break because my other 5 servers have run for 3 years no issues [editline]7th July 2016[/editline] The compressed maps help reduce the file size saving clients bandwidth and download time. Making it extremely useful for large maps. If you look at any other other high ranking server, you'll see they all use bz2 compression for all their files.
http://www.flipidyjipidy.com/Gmod/Deathrun%20FastDL%20Files/ Just read PizzaDoxy's post. Add /garrysmod/ at the end of the URL. When you don't specify the /garrysmod/ it can't read the folder stucture just like your steammaps/common/garrysmod/garrysmod
What do you mean "specificy the garrysmod structure?"
FastDL mirror's exactly how your server files are. So let's say, my FastDL is set-up like this. And their is another directory within fastdl, and that's where the files are located. https://myurlhere.com/fastdl/ The real location of the files are here https://myurlhere.com/fastdl/garrysmod/ If you do this, https://myurlhere.com/fastdl/ Then you aren't exactly telling the webserver, and the server where the files are located so that the user who is connecting can download them. But i believe you can set the folder structure anyway you like, aslong as it's the same. ( I might be wrong )
I'm pretty sure my file structure is properly setup, check it if you'd like you have the links
I'm pretty sure my file structure is properly setup, check it if you'd like you have the links
No, what im saying is, Under your server.cfg, is your sv_downloadurl set to this "http://www.flipidyjipidy.com/Gmod/Deathrun%20FastDL%20Files/garrysmod/" If not, change it to that. And then it should work.
FastDL is functioning for everything (Pointshop models, custom content, etc) but the maps are giving an error that is missing the .bsp extension
FastDL is functioning for everything (Pointshop models, custom content, etc) but the maps are giving an error that is missing the .bsp extension
Where did you download the maps from? Forgot to ask on my first post
From another Deathrun Server, I think I'm going to hit up the Steam Workshop and get original and updated versions of the maps
From another Deathrun Server, I think I'm going to hit up the Steam Workshop and get original and updated versions of the maps
I would do that aswell if they weren't working for me. Sorry that I was not able to help you fix the problem.
All good, I'll try to get my plans done by the end of the week, but thanks for trying to help! I'll let y'all know what happens!
.bz2 is a compression method Garrysmod uses in order to send clients files. I don't think it's the FastDL Webhost, I think it's the SCRDS server catching and error when using the map
No, what im saying is, Under your server.cfg, is your sv_downloadurl set to this "http://www.flipidyjipidy.com/Gmod/Deathrun%20FastDL%20Files/garrysmod/" If not, change it to that. And then it should work.
You don't keep the %20 as a space thats something chrome does. have the format with normal spaces "http://www.flipidyjipidy.com/Gmod/Deathrun FastDL Files/garrysmod/" that's why you should always put " " because it keeps things with spaces as one parameter. Also I would also just recommend never having spaces in a web url. Also please make sure you have sv_allowdownload 1 in your server.cfg and make sure your server.cfg is being executed at load up.
UPDATE: My config is properly setup, as in my download URL works fine with the "%20" and I redownloaded a fresh copy of every single map and it works. So my compressed .bsp maps, now ".bsp.bz2," are working perfectly fine. I'm assuming the map files were some how corrupt and the server was understanding the map names wrong. Thanks y'all for trying to help, but in the end I was left to do the old method of installing fresh clean copies. This thread isn't exactly "Solved," but the problem is non-existant anymore so pretty much Solved.
