Low fps with GTX 980! Any help on how to optimize/solve my problem?

In every DarkRP server i play i have around 20-50 at most of the map and over 60 in very low populated areas of the map. For example in rp_downtown_v4c i have around 30-40 fps almost everywhere! This is at low settings aswell.
Specs:
GTX 980
I5-6600k 3.5ghz
8gb RAM
250gb ssd and 1TB hdd
Can anyone help me to get above 60 fps?
Don't play on overbloated poorly optimized servers.
Get better hardware?

Don't forget to reinstall gmod.
Anyways, the amount of addons, props or players can fuck with your FPS. Sometimes it could even be the map that has excessive FX or shadows.
He's right, have you tried reinstalling Garry's Mod?

Don't listen to this guy, OP. He's just a spammer.
Try playing in Singleplayer and tell us what you get.

Someone make that his title, hes a legacy.
But yes, do test in singleplayer, though, most of the time its just the sheer amount of crap darkrp servers 'need'.
Yeah i guess you guys are right about the servers being poorly optimized.
But is there anything i can do on my behalf to get higher fps?
And my fps in singleplayer is no problem as it it always higher than 60 by several magnitudes.
Yeah there's a few things you can do but you'll probably see that the CPU is the bottleneck in GMOD more than the GPU. Your CPU is great but even great CPUs can struggle in GMOD. You'll want to lower any CPU-bound effects.
A few things you can do is reduce draw distances and you can try some of the console commands listed here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=353154455
Lastly, I think the pre-release branch of GMOD has better multi-core support which might help even more but I've never tested it.

wasn't that included on the main branch in the last update or so? I'm pretty sure it was, since I can get better performance with multi-core rendering without opting into any branches.
