• Issue Port Forwarding Dedicated Server

Hello, I have been trying for a few days to port forward and it doesn't appear to work externally. There are no errors in srcds, other than rebinding of ports to the next number because Gmod is open. First thing, I have a Netgear router connected to an Asus because the ISP requires the Netgear. So I have opened the required ports on the Netgear to point to the Asus. The Asus points to the local ip of my machine. Although I can connect to my own ipv4 address and connect to the server you cannot join externally. Netgear Asus Any ideas?
If your netgear is only a modem you in theory shouldnt need to port forward it. Try pointing both to your machine or delete the netgear entries. Also ensure there is no firewall blocking the ports (Check windows firewall)
The netgear is a DSL Router. My netgear is connected to my asus through ethernet so I would have to change my computer's direct connection from the asus to the netgear if I wanted to access it directly.
You could always try DMZ, which will work as if all ports are forwarded to your address and then work from there if it works. Also how are you joining? Unless your router supports loopback, you can't locally join using your wan ip address. I hope you're hosting a test server only at home. You need some pretty decent net to host and those ddos attacks can be vicious.
I'm connecting by using my computer's internal ip address, not the external wan ip. Also this is going to be a server for just my friend to join and develop with me. So dos attacks are not my concern.
Give DMZ a try then, it should work off the bat.
