First GMOD server admin help

I just got my first GMOD server up and running for my son. I want to be sure I dont allow regular players to access things they are not supposed to. I found a nice server.cfg file but I want to be sure I am not missing something.

1. When I join the server, I can hit the tilde and see the console and enter commands. Is this supposed to happen for regular players? Do all players have access to the console? Shouldnt this be locked down?

2. When I ban a player, does his name automatically go into the banned list which is pointed to by my server.cfg file?

3. Is there a place to go to learn more about locking down your server to prevent user abuse?

1. Everyone has access to the console. But you no one has access to edit your server.

2. Try the ULX addon. It's easy to install and it has a lot of features for you to manage such stuff.

3. You could password protect it.
