I've been running a few servers for about 3 months now but I don't seem to get many returning players. I would love to provide a good quality server that people enjoy. So, what I am asking is what "you" look for in a build server. I currently have three servers. 1 Sandbox, 1 RP and my latest a Build only server(no weapons etc...).

I'll try out your RP and Build servers tomorrow after school.
When I tried to join your Build server it wouldn't download anything, it got stuck on the first thing which was the parachute. Also, your RP server was password protected or something.
Fading Door, Multi-parent, Fin and Wenli's are some I can name off the top of my head.
Wenli's tools are one of the most-needed things for a good build server
too bad that most of the servers I go to, people have to fucking clue

3. Moderators who don't mess with your stuff.
4. Sensible players who don't just build cars with rockets on the back.

I wish there were more sensible players around. There seems to be an influx of new players lately and most of them just want to join to annoying everyone.
I used to be pretty easy going on my server and let people do what they want, that DID NOT work. So unfortunately I have to be a bit of a hard ass an kick people a lot, I don't like doing this.
Is it just me or is anyone else noticing more players just join to try and crash the server or annoying people.
Also, I've added Wenlis tools to my build server(32 slot one).
It happens, and I'm not sure exactly what you can do about it. My advice would be to get a good administration staff and a good default playerbase.

your cpu is horrible, you have an annoying hud mod, and you have some annoying chat thing. Too much of this is unneeded, and I have the feeling that it's home-hosted, which isn't really the best thing for a build server.
First of all a good build server has absolutely nothing but USEFUL tools, no addons, nothing but tools that help build, the more models, addons, weapons, mechs, or any other crap will take years to download for the client. Plus when you run a build, and someone is doing something you dont like, take a deep breath, maybe even just say stop, but let it go, the more nice of admin you are, the less other people misbehave. Avoid banning, kicking or any other punishment, unless they are attempting to crash the server thats when you can unleash the butthurt. Even if something starts saying to you "Fuck you, neggar go suck yo momma's dick", you can reply with like "y". cause most the time people insulting you with alot of curse words, is usally a kid who doesnt have anything more hurtful to say.

The server is not home hosted, bear in mind its a uk server.

Im slowly getting regular visitors now. I will consider taking off the chatsounds to reduce connecting time.
locations don't affect cpu though, which still is quite bad.

Ok. Could you enlighten me on the issue you have then. What is it that running slow for you?

Lesser restrictions. "Oh no, you cannot spawn a single crow!" "You are only allowed 2 dynamite!" "Ragdolls? Nope." "Turrets? Only 2 weak ones." etc, etc, etc. Also I would like every single server to have the grapple mod.
The reason I limit those things is thanks to spammers. I did have a group restrictions mod would't work properly with ULX. Besides, my server is a build server there is no need for NPCs, Ragdolls or loads of Turrets.

Hmm, I haven't noticed any problems. When I look at my servers CPU usage, it hasn't gone over 5%. I will speak to my server provider and see what they say.
My guess is that it's a shared host. I would love to have a dedicated host, but they are way to expensive.

I have contacted my server provider. They have given my server more priority, hopefully that will make it better.
