I've been hearing a re-occuring factor on a few RP sites saying, "War RP" First off... When I think of War RP my eyes, and thoughts are always directed at War of The Servers. RP'ing insurgency would be fucking annoying (c&p: Taco N' Banana HL2RP Rebel vrs. CP's).
So I've come to ask myself a few times, "What rules of war would Garry's Mod have?", "How would you win a war in Garry's Mod?", "How would a war be fought in Garry's Mod?"
I can't answer any of these sadly without saying, "I haven't truly seen it... So I don't know..."
So I've come to ask my fellow Facepunchers...
What would be the laws of war in Garry's Mod?
If Garry's Mod was connected in one giant world-like map which was sorta a combo of RP, and Building what would happen?
How do you win a battle or furthermore a war?
Before any of you go, "Well that can't happen" this is just for a concept of 'War RP' or 'WOTS RP' the basic idea is Garry's Mod is directly a giant map which works on resources to build stuff such as [url=http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=970767 ] this gamemode. [/url]
Now I must really ask everyone something with that said... Would Garry's Mod even survive a day?
Garry's Modders naturally are meant to be creative people... So what happens when their on one giant world map, able to create their own countries, and building is based on resource capability?

[/B]What if... When you die you only are killed for an hour, and may return to your Village, Country, Home Area... Whatever.

I'd say it should be more political to keep away minges, or... well... 90% of current population in this section.
But it would work if there were proper scripts that kept people away from eachother unless they're in the designated battlefield and whatnot.
I would have to ask though... What if the battles were taken directly to the player's homeland? Say... A group of bombers begin dropping small payloads on industrial towns to stop any form of progress in a small nation.
Well, things like that always cause political rammifications, I'd say that would grant the other guys to send an X amount of soldiers in an offence based on the casualties.
Or formalities, in case it's new year, or someone's birthday.
Personally I'd join in on something like that, I've always wanted to roleplay as Captain Benjamin Franklin Hawkeye Pierce.
Ah... It would be awesome man. But here's the deal... Gunfight's are actual gunfights, and cover is now used cause you don't want to be dead for an hour.
Ah, well, easiest way to solve that would be to make instakilling guns, basicly. So if someone wants to be an idiot and zerg himself to cannonfodder, then sucks to be him, whilst others with a brain in their head will be forced to "camp", like real soldiers.
But yeah, in case of death, I guess an automatic ten minute ban would be effective, that sure would keep me thinking twice about things.

Oh, and maybe taking cover could provide accuracy bonuses.
Pherhaps a morale system could be in order, that way, in case of bad morale, the fire rate, damage and accuracy are affected, since people can't work under pressure, and in order to improve morale, soldiers needs R&R, or maybe enjoy special provisions, like scotch and cigars, and during battle, taking cover, and having a larger number of allies by their side. So then the comissioners just don't reluctantly spend all supplies on grenades and medkits.

Scripting is always difficult. Most projects made in roleplaying is sadly mainly made by semi-goth looking pretentious twenty one year olds who keeps thinking that they can suck blood because of their black lipstick.
This is too simplistic, they want so much depth in a story so that it can be used for uranium deposits.
Fanbased stuff will always be the most awesome if done by the right people, just look at taleworlds.
This seems like it would be a really interesting gamemode. Would all of the world in it be separated into different maps, or would users build it? (on a similar note, are there any gamemodes with shrunk-down players on gm_worldwide? It seems like an interesting concept as well.)

I have seen how you treat them, one second they are soaring through the skies on their endless renown due to a new gamemode, and you praise every word they say. Sorry, what elitism are we talking about here? The only elitists are idiots who think they are almighty. If anything half the communities this section was built for are the elitists, Facepunch itself is very diverse, only scripters who deserve hate receive it, we do not pull face heel turns of good scripters unless their ego goes to their head. I can tell you are referencing the Kermite incident with this mostly. The packs he produced at first wre okay, they used pretty nice models and sounds, but he cashed in on that praise by releasing worse and worse packs of weapons. He caused the hate he receives himself.
In the case of Zoey, everyone knows his weapons are good, but after the "internet transvestite" thing, nobody will treat him like a normal scripter, and will take pot shots. This was, once again brought on upon themselves. The only elitists you will find normally are the pompous scripters who produce stuff, show it off, then don't release it, the contraption builders, the posers, and probably "The Pro" from the mapping section.
If we are talking about gamemode coders, then the only person this happens to really is Conna. But he deserves the hate, once again. The only people who praised him wre the people dumb enough to buy his gamemodes. The people who knew what actually makes a gamemode fun, what actually holds a community together? You know, you ignored a massive part of my post that pretty much pinned them down and separated them from the good scripters.
I mean, there are scripts I like, like DarkRP, not as much for the roleplay, as for the gameplay, and I know it's very messy and needs improvement. It's like the rickshaw of scripts. It works, but it takes alot of manpower to keep it working. Then there's GmodRP, which worked great too, but it didn't maneuver too well and it was inflexible at times, but it was also alot safer, like an antique ford. Then there was Cakescript, it had it's moments, and was good for it's purpose, but it took alot of maintence and knowledge to maintain, but in return you got a great preformance during it's days of glory, sadly, after the toll of time, it's broken down, much like a 1950's Mustang. I'm a big fan of alot of the scripts, but these days we're stuck with some pretty bad ones, like Blueprint or Tacoscript, which in my opinion is rather stale and one-sided, and has only been lifted up by it's brand, much like a Ford Fiesta.
