please post any comments :)
Perfectly
thx for the reply
Bear in mind though, lag is mainly caused by your internet connection speed. You could hook that up to a dial up connection, the game would run fine but you would lag like fuck.
It should run it perfectly.
Gmod can be quite the RAM eater. so 8GB is more than enough :)
Just a note for when you're unbanned, that is an AMD system and is way overpriced for what it is, you could get a cheap case, 1155 MOBO, i3 Processor, RAM and Graphics Card for the money you're spending.
I have a small problem,
My computer can run garry's mod fine, but when i try to join an online game its completely horrible. It takes forever to load, and when i finally get in, within 10 seconds i get the "Error Disconnection problem, 40 seconds"
the main problem is, i have a laptop. Its NOT a desktop.
Heres my computer brand.

Please help me!
If you do, ill love you forever.

Well to be honest you might have to shell out for a desktop, gmod dosen't have a good history with laptops.

No, lag is mainly caused by instability in Source itself, and random RAM / CPU usage spikes. Not just your internet. I've played games of CS:S that lag like fuck, and I've got a better built than the one OP posted. Source is still unstable in many areas.

You are wrong.
I can play Source just fine and have never had any internet problems with it, unless I'm downloading stuff.

Lag is a delay between packets of data being sent from your pc to the server and visa versa. Yes, if your PC was very slow it may not be able to process the data fast enough resulting in lag.
It's not mainly caused by your PC, it "mainly" caused by your internet speed.
It will run it fine.

with no update capability in the future.

Learn to read. I never claimed it was your PC, I said it's Source engine itself, which is for the most part true.

It's not even the source engine, the stability of the source engine is fine.

Hardly. The engine still crashes out when you alt-tab out of fullscreen (hence most people I know including myself run in windowed), Steam Overlay causes the engine to crash, odd phyiscs collisions, etc. Source is the only engine I know where you can have a map leak and be able to run the game fine, but a map crashes if you have an entity intersecting a wall.

Steam Overlay has never caused me problems apart from BF2 and Punkbuster, also, maps do not crash if an entity is intersecting a wall, light_spots are fine like that.

I've made many maps in Hammer, I know for a fact that entities placed in Hammer that intersect walls will cause the map to crash.
Thanks for the reply's everyone,
And kiwi. Ill try with the Ethernet Cable.
Ill respond when i try it.
Could easily run everything on max settings.
Alright Kiwi, I switched to Ethernet, and it Did increase my speed, But now i have a problem where when i get to "Sending Client info" It just goes back to the main menu.
Alright, i have an update. I had just joined a Build server, And it kept getting connection error.
I never actually disconnected because i kept getting the signal back. I noticed that my ping was bouncing from 15-200 This is very odd, and i hope i can play gmod with out getting a new computer.
And i found this when i opened consle.
[autorun\client\nametag.lua:110] attempt to call method 'Ping' (a nil value)
Thanks for help.
I do not need to upgrade. I have a Linksys e4200 sorry for space my keyboard is screwed up.

router != connection speed/quality

If you bother to think who you're talking to, a regular frequenter of the mapping forum and well known participant, I think I know what will crash a map and what won't currently on a map I have I have light_spots intersecting walls, a few prop_statics and 1 light entity, no problems, if your map crashes, you're doing it wrong.

He is probably making a giant box that takes up the whole hammer grid and has about ten leaks and sticking in a few ragdolls into the walls.
It's the server that usually lags, not your computer.

As if you'd know. You think that buying a better router will drastically increase your shitty connection speed.

You act like you're the ultimate map maker that has the highest level of authority over the mapping world "if you bother to think who you're talking to."
I've had doors that clip out of the map for a brief second (after opening because they were placed on the edge), crashed. I've had dynamic props that are noticeably 1 unit into the ground, crashed. When you work with larger maps, and being as you're the wonderful flawless map maker you are, you should know that it gets to be a pain to check intersections on every single prop / wall. Saying it doesn't crash because of intersections is a severe understatement.

He told him to upgrade to a better internet connection, not get a new router.

It does not happen, I have props going into the floor so they don't hover on the ground, walls shouldn't intersect anyway, you should use vertex manipulation to join their corners. I am going to test doors clipping out of the map one, but if you were a competent mapper the doors shouldn't be going outside to the void anyway.
