I only get like 3 servers in my server list (which captures about 300 servers, I'm east coast USA) that are PERP. One is Lulsar-Effect which is always populated and was a great server, but I made the admins cry in OOC chat and now I'm banned for a month so now I am kinda looking for a new PERP server.
Thing is all of the servers only have about 3 or 4 players in it and Lulsar-Effect is the only popular one.
Is PERP dying? Is it already dead pretty much.

The official PERP server's died long ago, all the one's you see are rip-offs.
Are they ever going to come back?
Are they ever going to come back?
I quite doubt it, some few people have actually bought the gamemode and are running it though, there's one or two in the server advertisement section, check there if you want something thats close to the original.
They are never coming back.

Are you going to release your new version of evocity?

:V
New name, new batch of rules, updated gamemode, and a few new features... Not bad if you ask me.
I think it is. I really miss the old offical PERP, it seemed more serious and well set up.

That's the IP, doesn't work for me though, seems like other people manage to get in though.
You have to goto the forums, and ask them to add your ip to the servers allowed list.

That's an exceptionally dumb idea.
That's an exceptionally dumb idea.
I think its a good Idea, They did that for Taco and banana for the longest time,Trolls were hard to find.
Well I guess the server was down or something, because it was working for me now.
I just have one problem, everytime I try to talk on the server using text chat, I crash :<

Along with any sense of community.
Whitelisting your server just shows how god damn paranoid you are. And is a waste of time as your community will probably die off from doing so.
Besides, PERP is way, way overrated.
Hey guys, let's make it so as only people with static IPs can play.
Someone said you had to be on the firewall to play on there servers sound like a load of bullshit.
I though orange cosmos would be the people who are from perp, i see a lot of perp admins there, and they have gmr, perp 2 finished if you will, i think they are going to release resident evil just under a diff name.

Orange Cosmos is a PERP rip-off if not modified perp1/2.

Who cares? As long as people are having fun...
I honestly enjoy the server more.
1. Less Squeaks. (I've only found mature ones or ones who rarley use their mics)
2. CDM is fucking rare
3. Many players actually roleplay.
4. A very good mayoral system. A little more like OCRP it would be perfect.
5. Organizations act like Organizations. I joined Men of Mayhem, and the first thing we did was start a little shop ,and sell furniture.
6. Remember the annoying 15 Minute "NLR" rule for Cops? That has been abolished, and you now can return to a crime if called by fellow officers.
7. All cars have been tuned to act more realistically.
8. Has a custom Evocity map(Made by Sgt.Sgt if I remember correctly)
9. Very, very, very dynamic economy. It's not like OCRP where if the economy is in the shitter you lose only one dollar.... You can lose almost fifty-one hundred dollars on a paycheck, and sometimes have your money holded.
I could make a full list, but it would be impossible to explain in one post.
It is not that we at PD are "paranoid" about our whitelisting. In fact, every second our servers are up we ARE being attacked, but due to the effortless work of several of our members, we are able to completely block these attacks and maintain our servers running at almost peak capacity with absolute minimal latency issues.
As for it being bad for anyone with a dynamic IP that is also not really an issue. For all registered members, when you simply visit our site you add your IP to our whitelist automatically and if it changes, you need only visit any page on our website and 10 minutes later you are cleared to play. It really is as simple and convenient as visiting the home page.
If I ever wanted to play your server (which I won't) I think instead of going onto your website, I would try to connect to the server. Your system is shitty - since if I wanted to play, I'd have to go on your site every day and wait 10 minutes before connecting.
Whitelisting players is a bad idea. However, if in the case you want a whitelist (Which you shouldn't), you should base it on SteamID and update the IPs using that. Possible using gatekeeper, unless this is an even worse whitelist than I thought.
Well no one said you had to play here.
Well no one said you had to play here.
You don't seem to get what my point was. Many people have dynamic IPs, and would be in a similar situation to me (Besides from the fact that they would actually want to play)
Tell me again, why are you whitelisting IPs? I still don't see the use for it.
Yes, I understand what you are saying about the dynamic IP issue but I can assure you it is not an issue unless you change your IP every hour or something. (Now that would be paranoia) However our reasoning for whitelisting IPs is to stop several types of network and source exploit attacks on our servers, one of them consisting of spoofed IPs. By weeding out the fake ones, we can allow the real actual players to connect. Though it may be a slight inconvenience to some, it allows us to completely keep track of our playerbase, protect those players who wish to play, and remove those who do nothing but cause trouble. Overall we view it as a necessary sacrifice, especially considering the only thing our players would ever sacrifice is 10 minutes of not being able to play in exchange for playing all they want to after that.
