Snow is shiny/glossy/reflective on Day of Defeat maps

All snow surfaces appear glossy and reflective and something like the cubemap appears in the reflection.

This happened the last time I installed garrys mod too but then I found some kind of fix. It involved extracting some materials from one of the gcfs and pasting it in the garrys mod dir. I've taken a look inside some of the gcfs but even though I didn't go through every folder I didn't find much. The only thing related to snow were ten or so files in the sourcematerials.gcf named snowfloor00X.vtf and snowwall00X.vtf plus the .vmts which I pasted to the garrysmod/materials/nature directory which was how they were placed inside the gcf but it didn't do anything.

Have I pasted them in the wrong location or are there some other files I need to copy?
