weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\sool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:92: attempt to index a nil value weapons\gmod_tool\stool.lua:93: attempt to index a nil value
what seems to be happening is if i run a map, the tool gun and all its Stools are fine. but it seems if i load a saved game, the tool gun has issues. every once in a while the console misreports the error as well - or seems to. sandbox doesn't have a sool.LUA file. after having this error problem - i went to the depicted line(s) in the stool.LUA file - only to find them identical to a fresh installation of Gmod. i tried tracing the variables back to the other LUA files in sandbox, and base - but the variables do not seem to be instantiated here - likely in the engine itself.
function ToolObj:GetOwner() return self:GetSWEP().Owner or self.Owner end function ToolObj:GetWeapon() return self:GetSWEP().Weapon or self.Weapon end
as far as i can see - these lines are exactly the same as other people's copies. so i'm fairly confused here, i dont see anything wrong. system specs - i dont see how they would make a difference here but whatever.
windows XP professional service pack 3 2.40 Ghz core2 duo E6600 2x2MB L2 cache EM64T RAM: 2GB 2x1GB pc6400 ddr2/800 dual channel memory (corsair XMS2 xtreme memory w/ heat spreader) Graphics Card: nvidia geforce 9800 GT 1024MB Motherboard: MSI p965 neo-f p965 chipset LGA775 (P6N SLI)
addons. hah. i'd be here for hours rattling off things. i can safely say i've prolly got too many. 16gigs of addons is too much likely - but i wanted them all... and i pay the speed price for it. Saved games are a terrible thing to rely upon. They're pretty much broken in the current version of gmod. If you're not getting the error when loading a fresh map, I'd say that's your problem.
Best thing to do is the tools.
yeah. i'd not like to use saves either. i suppose i could make really weak ropes on everything everytime i go to save a contraption but that would get annoying on my larger projects - where a single wall can contain 10-20 props.
ya i'm having the same dam.... problem but no of my add on tools sooo ya garry needs to fix that
Don't use saves. Use Adv. Duplicator unless the save contains some sort of thing that's temporary and doesn't really require a toolgun, like one of those TERRIBLE Kill Breen maps.
