Now, I know that a handful of people are complaining about servers crashing, players crashing, and various other shit that's happening in the game we all know and love. I see this console command "vgui_allowhtml 0" flying around literally everywhere. Just what happened to Gmod? I start up the game hoping that there are enough players on my favorite servers, but guess what I find in my favorites tab? 0/10 or whatever.
And what's funny is that some of these servers are on the GameTracker popularity list, and all of them are just empty with barely any players on them. I was looking forward to the release of Gmod 13, until...
[QUOTE=garry]I thought it over while I was on holiday - and I decided that to move the release date for the switch over to GMod 13 by a month, to October 24th.
I’m aware that there’s a chunk of people that would like me to just release 13 and fix any bugs that crop up in weekly patches. This would work - and part of me agrees with this. But there’s a few things I want to change and add that would take longer than a week - and would add quite a bit of confusion if they appeared just as people were getting used to the other changes.
So to clarify - the release date has changed from September 24th to October 24th.
Also - I’m aware of the crashing bug on GMod12 at the moment - and will fix it as soon as I’m able to get my hands on Valve’s updated source code.

Okay, as much as I'd spare the idea of giving garry more time to develop the next version of Gmod, why would you postpone it when people are already having problems and servers are always displaying 0 out of whatever the maximum playercount is allowed?
At first, I was iffy about the release of Gmod 13: spawn menu is more complicated, some features from 12 are missing, and worst of all, gamemodes and addons are going to break so for the first few months we'll be stuck with Sandbox, Trouble In Terrorist Town and Ascension, correct me if I'm wrong. But now that Gmod 12 is barely even played anymore, how is the postpone to October 24th going to benefit Gmod, exactly? More time to add more compatibility towards the latest Valve games? Steam Greenlight, perhaps? Or perhaps the fact that Steam got a huge-ass update with this new "big picture" thing, that's my main guess.
Oh well, I'll just sit back and see how this goes. Bottom line: Gmod 12 is unplayable.
now, even though multiplayer is empty, it's still playable, just without multi player.... I haven't played gmod in a long time so i dont know whats the buzz about.
Postpone GMod 13 to Oct 24th: The game will be optimized more, developers are given more time to improve/fix their scripts, and by that period people will have been situated with school and will be able to spend time on Garry's Mod.
Don't Postpone GMod 13 to Oct 24th: Gamemode developers which are in school will be unable to fix their gamemodes causing huge communities to either collapse or cease to exist[OB Update, anyone?], GMod 13 in it's current state is somewhat unoptimized and would lead to much anger within the community.
I don't even have to mention the fact that builders are pissed off about several vanilla tools that are missing.
In short: If Garry releases on Sept 24th, shit will hit the fucking fan. Plain and simple.
This is why I uninstalled gmod until 13 comes out.

How is GM12 completely unplayable? You literally just need to either do the launch options and enter vgui_allowhtml 0 or do it in console. People aren't 'leaving GMod' but good share of the people who use GMod don't usually go to Facepunch, meaning that not all people know about the html 'fix' for it.
Gmod 12 is as playable as it was before, just the html stuff is broken and you don't really need that if you have lua. I don't even get your point, Gmod 13 is just the next step for this more or less outdated game. It adds more features and polishes the look. It adds usefull things in lua and just generally optimizes everything.
All major gamemodes are already in gmod 13 or are being ported atm so there will be no lack of gamemodes. The fucking best thing is, I see more new gamemodes being developed.
I really waited for a refreshing of GMod and here it is and it couldn't be better.

A moment of silence for our fallen friend, Gmod 12. You will be missed.
lol it's a month and a few days from becoming Gmod 13. It's normal. People know it's transitioning, and since the beta's open I wouldn't be surprised if most of them are playing GM13 anyway.
GMod 12 isn't 'officially broken', but I'm quite sure most of your brains have been officially broken for quite some time now.

It is actually officially broken, considering Garry has said he's waiting for the source to fix it.
It is usable yes, as it often is by using some tricks when the source engine breaks it. However just take a look at the amount of players online. The issue is definitely damaging the numbers.

I'm going to have to agree with JoeSkylynx on this one. From what I've seen most gamemodes and other things are still broken or very glitchy. I find that the push to October 24th will be a good thing.
I don't understand why people are bitching about multiplayer being empty? My servers are definitely a little quieter (school having started again doesn't help with that) but otherwise almost everyone knows about the vgui_allowhtml 0 and everything else works fine, some of my servers are even full during peak hour.. Why is it a big deal to have to add +vgui_allowhtml 0 in your launch options until Valve gives Garry the current revision of the source code for him to fix GM12's crashes?

My servers are also full, but don't argue with numbers as numbers are down more than just school things.
Not everyone uses facepunch, I'd probably wager less than 5% of gmod players use it.
Sadly this is damn true. Barely any player knows what FP forums are.

normally at least 2 or 3 in a 20 player server know about it, but i'd say most people know about it because a lot of mainstream servers put it in their server title.

I don't get it.
Honestly the only people that really play GMod 12 right now are the ones that actually want to play it. I am actually enjoying the amount of players I'm not getting on my server, as it keeps the noobs/crashers/minges away. Hopefully though all of our favorite tools will be available to us once the update comes out. I will certainly miss Precision Alignment, and I'm absolutely positive I won't be the only one.
Well, the crash is fixed, so we can play gmod like always now

I can't
All of the [B]Font[/B] [sp](Gmod 12)[/sp] is [SUB][SUB][SUB][SUB][SUB][SUB][SUP][SUP][SUP][SUP]still [/SUP][/SUP][/SUP][/SUP][/SUB][/SUB][/SUB][/SUB][/SUB][/SUB]broken.
[sp]And all the game mechanics of maps are broken too (Gmod 13), so no more fun physics maps for me[/sp]
