SVN Tutorial hopefully the last one to.... Ok, before I continue I will note: If you followed the directions and understand why you hav to do it that way you will not screw up your gmod... First you need to get an svn client, gmod developers recommend tortoisesvn. Go to www.tortoisesvn.net/downloads and download the installer. Normally people have 32 bit OS but I recommend you check. To check, right click on my computer (xp and vista) and say properties, skim and you will see it. *32 os is an operating system that supports up to 4 gigs of ram, 64 bit supports more. 32 bit os cannot see more than 4 gigs of ram so if you have 4 gigs or less good chance you will have 32 bit. Ok Install it, accept the agreement to sell your sole to Satan (yes that's actually what your are agreeing too) and install it. After installing it restart your computer. Ok so lets use wiremod addon as example. go to www.wiremod.com/forum/ you will see "Download wiremod." Copy the svn adress that is highlighted. To recognize svn addresses: normal address: www.example.com/net/gov/etc... Svn address: svn.example.com Explanation: (www is a protocol to recognize addresses kinda like a street address, and svn is another type of protocol with different features.) Ok for every svn just make a new folder on your desktop Right click on it and select "svn checkout" copy the svn address into the bar, usually if there is a password OP (orignall poster) wil tell you it. Ive noticed that using "anonsvn" as user and "anonsvn" as common pasword. Press ok and you'll see this screen, once you see the screen go make yourself a sandwich with the instructions at the end of this post. Enjoy the sandwich and come back opening the folder you checked the address out too. This is important, when installing addons you need to make sure it has info.txt So so moving wiremod to addons folder is wrong, because the info.txt is in a sub folder. Moving wire, Advanced duplicator, wire model pack 1 into the addons is correct. Because if you open the folder you see info.txt. This is how info.txt looks: If you don't see info.txt in a folder, its not well installed and wont work. To clarify; Gmod -> Addons folder -> addon -> txt.info Gmod -> Addons folder -> addon -> another folder -> txt.info For sandwich: Baked Italian Sub Sandwich Sandwich roll topped with Italian dressing, deli salami, turkey, ham, provolone cheese, tomato and onion. Sandwich Making Tip Onion A nice, red, yellow, or white onion will work in this sandwich. The difference is in the amount of bite you like from your onion. If any questions concerning svn please ask, but i wont answer any more question about the sandwich.
It's been done.
Well did it include instructions for a Baked Italian Sub Sandwich? I thought not... But otherwise I hope this is more understandable and that people will actually get it.
Already been done before. And better.
I like Divran's better.
Well time well wasted, and people still complain that their gmod got messed up because of svn...
