Zooming on first level

Is there a way to zoom in on the first level of half-life 2? I've tried suit zoom, which I usually use with static camera to take screenshots, and +zoom; and right clicking with the normal camera doesn't work either!

You can't "zoom" until you get the hazard suit

That's not true because once you're past the second loading screen you can zoom
