It changed everything about GMod. The 1 and a half long machinima that shaped what Garrysmod is today. When GMod was a 9 and carefree, until... the :10bux:. This is:
In 2007, The Gmod servers go to war, from PHWOnline And RS Films comes "War of the Servers", Directed by Robert Stoneman and starring voices from Chris Duggan (PHWRadio DJ), Robert Stoneman (PHWRadio DJ and Slapdash 1 and 2), Richard Biosvert (Slapdash 1 and 2), David Zimmerman (PHW Comic Maker), Nick Bertke, Jordan Brindle and Ben Stoneman. Based on the musical "Jeff Wayne's musical of War of the Worlds" This action/parody adventure follows one players story to get to his friends before the servers crash.
I won't lie, WOTS is the main reason I even started playing Garrysmod, but it's actually a really good film too. WOTS was a better adaptation than War of the Worlds, because it did stay true to the book in a satirical way. While Lit Fuse Films is basically dead, they left a collect of GMod videos that I don't think can be topped. And if you're wondering what happened to them, they joined Bioware and do cut scenes now. A fitting end, wouldn't you say? Join me today in commemoration of this great movie by watching it with me, and us. If you have seen it, watch it again, or have never seen it, WATCH IT RIGHT NOW, because this is the one and only WAR OF THE SERVERS:
I never liked this film, don't get me wrong, really well made, but that's it. [editline]09:48PM[/editline] No surprise they did the cutscenes, really good directors, just shit at the story bit.
:frog:
Well, it was at least better than many machinimas people try to make today.
Not the best visual version of War of the Worlds (that would probably have to go to Jeff Wayne's musical) but at least it's better than the god damned Tom Cruise movie.
Definintely one of the best machinimas I've seen to date. Well fleshed out story and some good characters. Really wish I could've gotten the free dvd when it was out

look at the upside, The people who made that (the tech people..) are now working for BioWare
I loved it they made it so well it's just epic.
I love that movie. Still watch it on a regular basis. And it's probably the best adaptation of the book, ever. They got the feel just right. Futile war against an unstoppable foe. I showed it to my dad. It depressed him actually. It actually manages to be emotionally involving. A crowning triumph for Machinima. Wish it could be on TV, to be honest.
It was a terrific movie, the best machinima I've ever seen
Watched it last night ahhh the memories.
It made my laugh how the mingebags talked, and eventually how they were defeated (School was on monday) , but yes an amazing adaption as well. Am I stupid if I didn't realize it was War of the Worlds until the 'young admin' appeared?

So fantastic. The whole movie was done amazingly, there wasn't a second I didn't love [IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/rating/heart.png[/IMG]
This movie was so good. One of the few good Garry's Mod Machinimas.
I've always adored this machinima... I'm still wondering what happened at the end...
After I watched it, I no longer thought of Machinima as unprofessional, WOTS is testament to that.
I thought It was the best movie machinima for Gmod, but I couldnt help being annoyed at the storyline, "There are too many of them to ban"? and that is why they all got slaughtered?.......come on you have epic screenplay, actors, directing, and editing, yet the storyline I found to be abit weak.
Haha, oh wow. I just nostalgia'd. From what I remember, it had a very promising intro but from there it just sort of felt rushed and thrown together. Despite that, WotS is still a high benchmark for serious future gmod machinimas.

There was an old thread on PHW where someone put the DVD version on a shelf in a video store. Why doesn't anything like this happen anymore?
Because people are lazier than they were 3 years ago.
Seeing as LFF is dead, I don't see any problem with posting here some art for movies we worked on, most of it never seen. My time as LFF's lead artist allowed me to create some of the work I'm most proud of still today, even with how much I progressed in so many aspects, everytime I look at this folder I can't help but feel nostalgic. I hope some of you enjoy this.
