Help with Applying a custom spawnmenu icon background

PS: I didn't post in help and support, as this isn't a problem to play the game, it's a customization matter.
Hi!
I've made a custom spawnmenu icon background, to fit with my new derma skin I've found by browsing this forum, but it doesn't seem that I can override gmod default ones.
The problem is that the game stick with the gray ones.
To test, I re-render the icons by right clicking on them on the spawn menu. I even tried to reload all the cache.
I've made multiple attempts:
Firstly, I placed files in garrysmod\garrysmod\materials\VGUI\spawnmenu\ those files are:
bg.vtf
bg.vmt
fg.vtf
fg.vmt
It didn't work.
Then, I've renamed bg.vtf to bg2.vtf and fg.vtf to fg2.vtf, and in bg.vmt and fg.vmt, I edited them to point at the new names.
It didn't work either.
Then, I've made a custom addon with an override property in the info file.
Placed the files in the right place.
It didn't work.

Can you provide me with help?
Thanks in advance.
Hurricaaane.
wow release that skin, that is simply amazing. and no i do not know, i myself had this problem.
If I knew how I'd help, but I'm looking forward to a release.
I don't believe you can change the background of spawnicons as the yare automatically generated...Maybe though...
I edited the post to show that >>>I didn't make that skin<<<. Search for "Vista derma" in the forums.
Is there any way to bypass files priorities? Or does it really depend on a source code change?
if they are dynamicly generated for new props, then you'd have to go into the source code and change the gradient color. though there might be a variable for it, i woudn't recomend doing it. maby email garry?
