• Q Menu problems and GMod errors

Hi, I was recently having a problem where when I pressed Q, only a small grey box with nothing in it appeared in the top right corner. However the tool menu did appear. I removed all my mods but the problem persisted. I did a complete reinstall of GMod (removing the folder once it had been uninstalled). However, after doing this, the problem just got worse. When I press Q nothing at all happens. I am definitely pressing Q and I checked the control configuration, which is all fine. Also, whenever anyone does something such as firing a tool gun, a load of errors appear at the side of the screen. I would be very pleased if someone could offer any suggestions. Thanks. EDIT: Forgot to mention that this only happens n multi-player, single-player works fine. I have tried changing servers aswell. EDIT2: I have tried the method of renaming my garrysmod folder to garrysmod.old in order to create a new one, but the same problem continued after that.
I have exactly the same problem in multiplayer, but singleplayer works fine.
I would just like to add that the error at the side is a big list that doesn't go away any more. It's the same error: Error: Function (TranslateFOV) not found! Scripted Entity (gmod_tool) Edit: I read that I should verify cache files for some games to try and fix the problem, so I ran "Verify integrity of game cache..." on every steam game, even those not Half Life 1 or Source based. The problem still continues. This problem is starting to really annoy me. Does anyone have any ideas at all that may help?
Error: Function (TranslateFOV) not found! Scripted Entity (gmod_tool) refers to the FOV for your tool gun. Seems like steam isn't installing your games propley, go and ask Valve.
I have done a clean reinstall of every Source based games (yes, even deleting the folders) and the problem still continues. However I started a listen server and I and my clients had no problems there. It's just on other peoples servers.
OMFG i got same problem Error: Function (TranslateFOV) not found! on Scripted Entity (gmod_tool)
ME TOO AAHH
I'm pretty sure this happens when you join a server that hasn't updated to the newest version yet.
I'm pretty sure this happens when you join a server that hasn't updated to the newest version yet.
If the server hasn't updated then you just insta-disconnect in the loading with class table errors.
If the server hasn't updated then you just insta-disconnect in the loading with class table errors.
No...
No that's correct. If the server doesn't have the same version of Gmod as you do, you get a class table error and disconnect. It is physically (or non-physically :v:) impossible for you to join.
No it really is possible. This same q menu problem happened after the last update and it was because the servers hadn't updated. People could still join servers that hadn't updated.
Wierd. Really really wierd.
if you have "assmod" that might be the problem i heard when you enter a server, it will mess up your Q menu
Try going into options and multiplayer, check that "Download all custom files" is checked (you don't need Sounds)
I also have this problem. I run a server that is updated regularly and others that play on it don't all have the same problem. We have tried every damn thing we could imagine to fix it.I think it will require team garry to update the game, yet again. Hope this does something for ya.
the q menu for me wont open up at all in multiplayer its fine in singleplayer
i deleted assmod and it works fine now :)
I have this problem, but in Single player (I work fine in multi). The odd thing is, I also can't start a new Singleplayer game... I'm forced to load. I've tried all of my loads, and none of them work... The main menu has the map select already up when I open GMod, and I can't access it. HALP D:
