I hope this is in the right place because I don't need help PLAYING the game is it says in the help and support section, but anyway can Fraps record garrysmod? If it cant what should I use to record me playing on a server?
fraps can record pretty much every game
fraps can record pretty much every game
Yes but when I run fraps it doesnt record garrysmod for some reason.
source recorder
Fraps is the best choice for simple and easy recording, but it can put a considerable strain on lower-end rigs as it records and encodes all in one operation. It also has a few other features as well like screenshots, fps display, and a variety of recording options. DXTory is far more powerful than Fraps in that it allows recording in faster formats and encoding in more efficient formats. It can be difficult to figure out, and it can be a bit finicky with program recognition, but it's super fast on even slower machines. Source Recorder is built in to the Source engine. It's slow to record but offers [typically] flawless video output. It can be difficult to use at first, and I don't believe it has the capability of recording audio outside the game like a mic or a group VoIP session.

Then you better pick Source Recorder and get used to it, look at MaxOfS2D's tutorial on it, make good use of VirtualDub with the TGAs and seperate WAV audio and the quality will be outstanding There's another program called WeGame, which however, can't be downloaded for some reason.

Try adding "-nod3d9ex" to your launch options. EDIT: And I mean that Fraps should work after that.
http://www.wegame.com/download/
That link's been broken for a while. According to the forums, "WeGame was sold to Tagged.com and no one works at WeGame anymore.".
That link's been broken for a while. According to the forums, "WeGame was sold to Tagged.com and no one works at WeGame anymore.".
Wow, really? It was a great program, when I used it.
I use fraps for recording and such, the best recommended one of them all.

Unless you're using Source I can say Bandicam is a nice idea (except it costs more than Fraps) because you can compress the footage if you want to. Because Fraps doesn't let you do any of that

FRAPS can only record 30 secs in the free version, so why wouldn't Bandicam do the same? Anyway, I'd be fine with just cutting several parts
I prefer bandicam over fraps. In my experience, the hit on your framerate is much lower. For a shit-computer user such as myself, this is a needed part. As for quality, I'd go with bandicam as well. Max out the quality, keyframe, and other such settings. It'll give you a 4gb+ file for every couple minutes. Then you can render it however you want.
i use fraps since i dont make too many movies so if u dont make alot of movies i suggest the Source-Filmmaker
i use fraps since i dont make too many movies so if u dont make alot of movies i suggest the Source-Filmmaker
Yes because if I want to make gmod videos I use sfm.
So much misinformation in this thread. Why does it seem that everyone completely ignored my post?
I suggest using Bandicam, according to us talking about it versus Fraps
Fraps is what I use but I kinda find it shit. Eats hard disk space till I used Dxtory. Much better. Yet advanced.
point a camera at your screen thjen use your phone to film the tiny screen on the camera and post the videos from there
Point a camera at your screen, then use your phone to film the tiny screen on the camera and post the videos from there
You must be out of your head. Digital cameras are for recording live action like James Rolfe does, capture devices/programs are for recording on static game machines such as the PS2 (not counting handheld game consoles) It's simple if you're going to "Let's Play" where it's both "gameplay & talk" (best for recording on your PC's desktop), but voiceover with a microphone in a video editor is guaranteed better
I suggest using Bandicam, according to us talking about it versus Fraps
Bandicam is a piece of junk. I highly doubt it's any better than Fraps. Fine, you white block. How about you update the list of capture programs to be down here?
Sarcasm is lost in you, isn't it?
No, I just enjoy taking people seriously and upsetting them. Just like Dr. House Also, sarcasm is 100% harder to notice in text. It's easiest to tell if someone's actually saying it. (Perhaps Facepunch should add a feature to make voice-recorded comments, I'd have to prepare my microphone & pop filter. Too bad it's coax)
