Questions - Garry's Mod - Facepunch Forum

ok, so i know many of these questions have been posted before, but i am kinda lazy and a noob to gmod and need people with expereince to help. If you can answer even just 1 of these, please do. 1: Without boring you with a life story, i got gmod about 3 weeks ago, and have finally convinced my friends to get it. Problem: I have a lot of addons, and want to know a way so that when they join my NON-Dedicated server, it downloads them, rather than me walking them through each individual one. How do i do this? 2: When i download a file from garrysmod, it goes SO SLOW. I mean, ive seen as low as 600 BYTES per second. yet sometimes as high as 487 KB per second. My internet isnt the problem, because i have average about 1mb per second. is this a server thing or am i just screwed? 3: My framerate is good normally, but is slowed down easily. Granted, this computer isnt meant for gaming, because i use it for work, but ive seen computers worse than this run better GMOD than mine. Even at low graphics settings it doesnt help that much. Any help here? 4: A lot of files have missing textures or load big "ERROR" signs when i spawn them. Granted, i only have Half Life 2, but many of these are HL2 stand alone (Phx, for example, the Bunker is all a big texture error), is this because of corrupt files, or because i need CS:S or something? Finally 5: Every time i load a map/level in gmod, it loads me outside the map or under it and says "Node graph out of date. Rebuilding..." Is there a way to solve this? My system specs are: Graphics Card: GeForce 6150 LE Processer: AMD Anthlon 64 X2 Dual Computer type: Windows XP Professional 2002 RAM: 2.00GHz, 960 MB Yes, i know its an old computer with a not-so-pro gaming ability, but its all i really have right now, unless i decide to buy a whole new computer for gaming. It was recently deframented, and is very clean right now, with 83% memory left. Can somebody PLEASE help a new guy in need?

Upgrade your PC first off. That is old as hell. You probably installed PHX wrong or something, and as for GMod.org, there is a way around the slow downloads, just get the actual url and sometimes there will be a website infront of the actual link so just deleted that and put it in yer address bar.

Thanks, ill try some of those. I was thinking an alienware for a while, but i cant really spend money on a new computer for the time being.

get Counter Strike: Source, that will get you a lot of models, and will solve most missing texture/flashing error signs issues

Is there a way to solve this?[/QUOTE] Dunno what's up with loading you outside the map but the [i]Node graph rebuilding[/i] is just something that happens when you load a map for the first time. If it's happening every time you load a map, something's pooed.

Build your own PC for a lot cheaper and of equal or better quality. Alienware is just a gimmick to SHAFT people who can afford to be shafted... Considering you're still on OLD SCHOOL hardware, I seriously doubt your loaded enough to waste $$$ on a crappy ripoff brand called Alienware... You'll thank me later.

thanks to everyone for posting. Ill be sure to get CS:S when i get the chance, and see how that goes. And thanks smurfy, for answering all the questions at once. Helps out a lot. And as for corvey, ill make sure to view alternatives to gaming computers besides alienware. Thanks for the heads up.
