I am looking to rent a good server box, That is not to expensive. I would like to keep the price under $200.00 a month, but if I have to, I will go up to $300.00.
For $200, you'll be able to get a nice box regardless. What are you looking to host?
How many servers with how many slots can I host for a $200.00 dollar one? And to answer your question, I am trying to expand my community, So, The easiest thing to do is get a server box.
It really depends on a multitude of variables. Location, company, specs. If you send me a PM, I can help you run through and see what I can find for you.
Ok, I sent you a PM.
If a server in Dallas, TX works for you, go with Limestone. You will be able to get something more than capable with $200. http://www.limestonenetworks.com/

+2 for limestone. I had amazing latency, even without internap.
+2 for limestone. I had amazing latency, even without internap.
I had someone trying to hack my FTP server from a limestone IP, I sent a email to their abuse department and never got a response back. This was a month ago. Limestone lost points with me on that, but their network is pretty damn good in terms of latency :D. OP: Depends really, how long do you want to keep this server?. Is this long term or a month or two. If its long term, its better to buy your own 1U server and colocate. It's cheaper and if you ever need to stop hosting for whatever reason you can get it shipped back to you. Colocation is more expensive short term but long term is cheaper. You could also go with a "rent to own" host, but I have never really used them. Otherwise, your probably going to want a i7 quad core for Garry's Mod. Usually, I wouldn't recommend this as it is overkill unless your hosting 10-20 servers or a GSP, but Garry's Mod uses a lot of CPU and if you want to host a big server, you need the extra processor power. If your looking for a standard 10-16 slot Sandbox server or 32 RP or whatever, then anything dual core and up will handle it. I myself used a AMD Athlon X2 6000+ for a 32 slot RP and it still was only using up around 60% of the core. I wouldn't go with a Opteron. Not because I think it is bad, but because I have never used it before and it really doesn't sound good for a physics intensive server. So far, this should be your setup: 1U - Dual/Quad core 2.80Ghz+ CPU - 2/4GB ram - Windows Server 2003 standard - 20/80GB HDD for OS - 160GB HDD for servers and storage - 100Mbps port - 1.5TB+ BW (Really, you want around 2/2.5TB bandwidth though). You can get that for less then $200 a month, probably going to run you around $125. Hosts to avoid: BURST http://biggameserver.com/ (Good place, good person running it. Shittiest network I have seen.) Recommended hosts: Colocation America - Darklandservers.com uses it, as do a few others. I have never used it but hear good things about them. http://joesdatacenter.com/ (I only stopped using them because I no longer required their services. Great place, Joe is a great guy. Ignore the fact theres a second datacenter in the same building with higher prices. Please note this was for colocation, I have not personally used their dedicated servers.) Heres a speedtest.net I had when I was with joes: There was another host, but I can't remember them =/. Been a while. Also, heres a deal: $99 for 5TB bandwidth. Hardware is decent. http://www.serverloft.com/dedizierte-server/server-details.php?products=0 Either way, good luck!.
I can say good for Serverloft too, but one problem, you can't upgrade any thing at all.
