Running dedicated server

I got this proiblem with running a dedicated server,i already installed the HLdsUpdatetool and it already has downloaded HL2 and Garrys mod and i opend my ports now the thing is when i neter my server and do sv_lan 0 it still says my server is lan..also i have no clue on how to add server addons...it has been awhile since i last runned a dedicated server

EDIT: ok i uninstalled HLdsupdate...and now im downloading it again so its a fresh clean installation to start with...now the games i have are CSS and HL2dm..so do need to downlaod these games with HLdsupdatetool to get them into Gmod? also what is the next step for setting up a server

EDIT2: ok i got it working but now my server whont go into internet...even if i typ sv_lan 0 it stays on lan for some reason

Hey, how did you enter sv_lan, directly into the server console? Otherwise you have to rcon first. ;)

Changing the settings can also be done through the server config files, I don't know the exact location, but I think one of the file names is "server.cfg".

Thanks for the help,i was putting it in the wrong way...hehe...now the only thing left to do is find a good server.cfg
