Ok, so I just got GMod yesterday and every time I load it up, it freezes at the first loading screen with the two guys and a construction cone. About a minute later it a window pops up saying "hl2.exe has stopped working" and it closes a few seconds later. My computer is running vista home basic and is way more than capable of running it considering it can play everything from the orange box.

ok, so I did EVERYTHING in there and I no longer get a hl2.exe has stopped working window, now I get a black screen about when I would get the message.
ok dude just sit and let it stay on the black screen. It takes time to load the first time for reasons i dont know. And i do know that it will say its not responding but in fact it is running. Vistas just gay like that. i bought this game yesterday and just letting it do its thing worked.
ok thanks, ive posted on every gaming forum ive heard of and they all tell me stuff like "go to command prompt and type in nuke computer=true" ill report back when it starts for any further errors

its been about 40 minutes and nothing happened. is that normal or is there something bad about my computer or game
oops forgot to tell you it all depends on how much ram you have. I have 1.5 gigs of ram and it took about an hour. I would suggest you go and watch a movie or some tv while you wait
i got 3.0 gigs, so it should take about 30 minutes. ill try again

i use windows 7 you should get xp or that gmod is soo slow on vista
