How to download torrents from garrysmod.org without a client.

I added a link to this thread in mine, hope you don't mind. I just tested it and this works great while still saving Garry money, I highly recommend it.

If you would like I can create a visual tutorial for it(even if it's extremely simple) as I did with my "How to download .torrents" thread.

Well, I wouldn't put it past anyone here.

Plus you have to install java, [i]restart firefox[/i] too much work for most of them.

-Install Java for your OS/Browser
-Restart your browser
-Create new bookmark
-Click bookmarklet
-Allow popups
-Choose Destination folder
-Wait
-Copy files as usual
-Delete original/archive

Still probably too much. Plus, with a visual aid it might make people more likely to actually give a shit that this thread exists.

That would mean I'd have to make at least 3 guides, since adding bookmarklets is different per browser.
Besides, creating this was enough work in itself, if anyone else would want to that's fine by me. If someone can't do the above steps, can they really install an addon?

Why 3 guides? You could make 1 guide, and have some steps include multiple supports. ie: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Opera. (no other though) In fact, you could probably drop Safari considering that is mostly used by a not-supported OS.

An example of a bookmarklet would be one that gives you a link so you can download youtube videos, its basically a peice of javascript that goes through the page and inserts a hyperlink (link).

A Greasemonkey script usually changes the content of a page, but doesn't do anything active. I could make this into one, but it'd be more complicated.
How is an extension easier than pushing one button?

Sure, which browser are you using?

Start by copying the code in the OP (opening post).

Chrome:
If you don't see a bar under the location bar (where you type the web address), press Ctrl-B.
Then, right click on an empty space on that bar, click Add page, paste the code in the URL field, put a name at the top field (you can choose yourself) and click OK. Then use it as per the instructions in the OP.

Firefox:
Right-click on the bar under the location bar, click New bookmark, paste the code in the Location field, put a name at the top field and click OK. Then follow the instructions in the OP.

wait i used firefox and i dl it and it worked but when i try and open it or extract it it says that access is denied and i cant delete it easther it says that is is being used in another program help! please

Though it is unfortunate that we cannot leave the window open to seed... is that fixable?

This is a prime example of why a visual tutorial is needed. Unfortunately I still do not have enough time to make the full tutorial, I just had a bit of time so I did this quickly. I'll also look into bookmarklets and internet explorer.

I had some more time, so I looked into something. I found a quick-fix to the access denied if you want it to continue seeding.
Simple as this:
-Copy the folder.
If you copy+paste and use the second one, then the first can still be used by the fake-client without any interruption to seeding.
