I have the legal bought version of Garry's Mod 10 on steam on my laptop which is Windows Vista. I try to run it, the program "stops working" and I have to close it down right then and there. I have heard I have to wait for it but that "wait till the program responds" message doesn't pop up. I can only close it because it stopped. I tried running it as an admin and on compatibility for XP but the same message pops up. Is there any configuration I can make so I can wait for it to load rather than having Vista think it's not working? I wanna see if there is another way to fix this instead of just buying more RAM.
Laptop specs please.

RAM: ...my computer says 3 gigs but it said I had 1 not too long ago
Graphics Card: Noob moment, forgot how to find that out when I have nothing of the specs to look at
OS: Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1

OH WTF! I was just able to play CS:S last night and it doesn't work anymore saying the source engine isn't working! WTF!
Dont blame vista, I have gmod on vista and it runs amazing. Dont blame vista because your pc cant run it.
IMO, I blame vista for 90% of problems.
But yes please do list your graphics card specs...
Have you updated your graphics card drivers?
Reinstalled Garrysmod?
Cleared all addons?
I reinstalled Garry's Mod several times. I also reinstalled counter-strike and it's still not working. And I am blaming vista because I know I can run both of my desktop which is xp which isn't as good as this laptop.
Supposed Graphics Card: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family, 1309 MB max memory.
I run both CSS and GMOD absolutely fine on Vista; can't be Vista's fault.
Well I do run CS:S and Gmod on Vista fine with a bit of lag on Gmod...
Hmmm
Although I don't like Vista as much as XP its ok...
When did the problems start? Did you change something or download something?
Did you update your drivers?
I k I have the same problem. I use my sisters labtop to game but on mine it dont work :(. agan.
Vista is very odd. Some works. Some dosent. Sometimes it will oddly work and same thing around
post pc specs
I bet he's on integrated graphics.
Run dxdiag.exe and click save all information at the bottom right. Then give it to us.
The GMod problem happened since the beginning. Counter-strike I fixed by disabling ingame steam community but it minimizes and stops responding when I enter a game.

People need to learn to read, he said in an earlier post he's using chipset graphics.
There's your problem, Upgrade or try running Gmod on dxlevel 80.
-dxlevel 80
I ran GMOD on a dell chipset no issues
And...I hope everyone reading this thread knows that I'm saying it stops before the main menu can even show up.
I recommend reinstalling vista, all the stuff on my computer stopped working so i reinstalled vista and now it wokrs fine now
The computer was already Vista.
-dxlevel 80 works, thank you very much.
Be sure to upgrade to Vista SP2.
