In any RP, I hate the fact when I hold a civilian job and I do hit job for someone, I get cunted out by some twelve year old for taking his job (Hitman). I also hate the admins who tell you to leave your shop when it's under attack to go buy a gun instead of prop pushing the people out and blocking the doors.

I hate RP in General because of the high amount of prepubescent kids being admins and abusing their powers.
I've yet to find a good server that isn't laggy or filled with idiots.

People who take RP too seriously. I've seen servers where if one person goes off and does their own thing for character development that is not canon with the storyline, they go bashit insane and start shouting at said player. RP is about freedom to live another life, not to follow some linear storyline crap.

* DarkRP servers where admins abuse their powers, people kill each other, and the only "roles" to play are cops, gangsta's, and the mayor.
* Servers using gamemodes that restrict RP to the point where proper RP is impossible (cider and gamemodes based off of it is guilty of this).
* "Serious" RP communities whose community is elitist in that you only get to RP if your friends with the right people and generates more drama than a daytime soap opera.
What I hate about RP the most, is the fact that an RP server is a community in which when one benefits from something, the other is damaged from it.
Meaning - if I'm the mob boss and I break into your house and steal your money, you are mad at me, and you will want revenge.
Either you will just go to me and RDM me, or you will tell a cop.
That cop will arrest me, and then I will be mad at him.
It goes on and on like that - whenever someone is "happy", another person is "mad" - just like Combine_Z said earlier, he killed the mayor as a hitman and he was banned.
I think RP mod has too many flaws, and yet I keep coming back to it...

Absolutely Correct. I think what we need now is a new contender who know exactly what they are doing, or bring back a community that had roleplay in the past, was good at it, and then stopped for some unknown reason. I would have a server that would attempt to be like this if I could get the 20$ a month for one.

I had a weird theory that people looked at War of The Servers (it had lots of contact with rp) and are in belief that we needed mingebag communities over good communities.
I disslike RP sience it's more than 85% mingebags and other non-role players.
Mingebags cause they spam and prop deathmatch
Non-role players cause they often yust join to destroy, random killing and pissing you off totaly. then i hate admin abusers cause they allways have 99999999 money, allways pisses people off and destroying the fun with RP

I think to make roleplay on gmod better we either need fun scenario roleplays ( which may invovle alot of fighting but still incorporate roleplay) or unrestrictive real life roleplays with harsh (but not abusive) admins to keep the idiots away.
the only server I have found like this is meteornet (used to be Melonbrew), but unfortunately it is often empty. I also think Insurgency RP has potential if only the owner would take advice.....

Garry's Mod is a full of idiots. Also, reason behind me liking WOTS topic so much, is because I like to give underdogs of a new era some attention.
Also, I use WOTS as an explationary theory, do too it being a very off bound topic too explain.

Thank you! I was going to say just that if no one else did. It is a damn shame that RP has come to this. I seriously miss the days of Light RP. But then again, there are few good scripts that haven't been fully recognized.

That's why RP writers need to realize - Any kind of criminal isn't a job! They shouldn't openly offer assassin or thief as a job. All those jobs do is make the person who has the job feel cool. Everyone else gets really pissed at their actions.
The best RPs are the ones that go with the flow and have very little pre-defined job choices.
When I'm an admin on a friends server,being a cop,building a garage for the Many,MANY police vehicles me and the other admins built,minding my own business.
When a little Gun Dealer kid comes up and says through mic:

He stands on my garage door,disallowing me to close it.
So i say:

i kick him,and when he comes back he furiously attempts to kill me with the Gravity gun.
Eventually after kicking him about 5 times he comes and begins to scream,literally SCREAM over the mic.

I used to always RP as a criminal. It wasn't a class included in the script though, I was just a citizen that worked my way up from a petty thief. It is a very fun job to play, so long as you play it correctly. Obviously you can't just buy a gun and kill everything in sight. You have to carefully plan out your activities realistically and accept arrest if you are caught, even death if you decide to take on the police. Having some form of a criminal can make RP much more exciting, rather than replicating boring everyday life working at an office and buying milk on the way home. It gives regular players a sense of fear, and the police a chance to earn their pay. Though of course that doesn't mean the person RPing the criminal has to constantly be out killing people and robbing stores, like I said, you have to plan every step and try to keep things on a realistic level.
Anyway, Contributing.
- Inexperienced and powerhungry admins of all ages. Maturity doesn't come with age, it comes with experience. I've seen many 14 year old admins that really have a grip on things and know what they're doing, and then I've seen 18-20 year old admins that don't have a fucking clue.
- People that bitch about being killed, no matter what the circumstances are. Of course if some idiot gangster runs around DMing you're going to be upset, but I'm talking about kills that are RP'd every step of the way. Let's say you're a criminal, and you're going to rob a store. You've planned it out, you've used /me, you've even warned your victim in OOC and told him what you were going to do, and now it's time to take action. Things don't go as planned however. Maybe the shop owner wasn't cooperating with you at all, maybe a civilian tried to intervene, or maybe the cops showed up. Whatever the cause, someone ends up getting killed. Despite the entire thing being properly RP'd, they bitch about it and try to get revenge or tell the admin.
- Cops/CPs. The vast majority of them anyway. When it comes to abusing their position and completely disregarding the NLR, the CPs are the reigning champs. In most servers, if you kill a CP, even if it was RP'd 100% like in the above scenario, expect hell. They will hunt you down and kill/arrest you until they fucking feel like stopping, which can be quite a long time. They simply DO NOT accept defeat, ever. The CP position is a lot like the criminal. It is very possible to be RP'd properly, it just needs to be played by someone who knows what they're doing.
- People who use their mics. I'm trying to RP, not listen to your stupid conversation from across the map, shut the fuck up. People will say that without mics the server becomes quiet and boring. This is untrue. I was an admin for a very decent server and we never used mics, yet when we had enough experienced people we managed to have excellent RPs.
- Preset jobs. Medic, Gangster, Mobboss, Cook, Bartender, all of that shit. In pretty much every thread some kid makes about his "modded dark rp", he asks what jobs he should add. We need to get rid of all these extra classes, not create more. In my opinion the only preset jobs should be Citizen, Cop, and Mayor, with both cop and mayor played by a capable admin or someone with a capable admin's permission. Every regular player should be of the citizen class, from then on they're on their own. If you want to own a shop, buy a shop and start selling things. If you want to be a medic, apply at a hospital. If you want to be a gangster, (Organized and properly RP'd of course.) talk to a gang leader and ask if he has any work for you. It's so fucking simple, but you never see it anymore. All servers are about now is how much extra classes and unneeded garbage do you have in your script.
- Too easily obtainable guns. Whether it's a cop, a criminal, or a regular citizen that just wants to protect himself, guns are an essential part of RP. From what I've seen most people here hate guns and think they need to be completely removed from the script if the RP is going to be any good. That is bullshit. Like most of the above, when put into the right hands and used properly, guns will make the RP much more interesting. They are just too easy to get. Instead of just typing in /buygun and spawning a shipment of assault rifles out of the blue, maybe add a strictly admin-only (Or again someone with permission) position that can purchase weapons and supply them to players. Maybe raise the prices so people can't buy them right off the bat, and maybe RP making people get a gun license before legally purchasing a weapon. Guns do not need to be removed from RP, but the process of getting them needs to be changed.
There are many of these threads, and most of you seem to know what you're doing. It's a shame we can't get some private FP RP server going instead of complaining about public Dark RPs.

Guns should be licensed only, with admins giving out the licences, not some bollocky script.
