I've noticed that in some maps there are sometimes in-built buttons or some other kind of activator which do things like open doors, call elevators, turn on lights ect. Is there a way for me to remotely activate these things? For example, I create a button and somehow link it up to the built in button or activator at the other side of the map, I then press the button I created and the built in button is activated, as if I had just pressed it.

I'd be surprised if you could, but you might be able to with wire or something. I'm not good with wire so someone else would have to help.
Wire User tool. Just point the beam at it.
