i repeatedly try to start it up but no go.
HELP PLEASE!
Do you have any addons? Try cleaning out your addons folder then try again. If that doesn't work, try a clean reinstall.
What source games do you have installed?
css, half life 2, half life 2 ep1, half life deathmatch portal and team fortress
yep the same error es i had on HL2 and once again i recomend to reinstall your windows! (helped me)
In addition to the above post I also recommend a newer version of Windows. XP is very old and will cause problems

I don't see how that's at all necessary. I'm using XP and I've been fine for GMod starting up.

It is necessary, since later Operating Systems have a broader range of support, which would cause less errors.
Just because it works for you doesn't mean it will work for everyone else.

wel windows 7 is (es far es i know) beta and when it wil come out its gonna be 2 expencive and vista sux! its an EPIC FAILE vercion of windows so i gues so far the windows XP is the best!
