Hello,
I want to buy HalfLife 2 to add more models on Garry's Mod, but I'm wondering which one I should buy (as in, just 2, or episode 1 or 2).
I already have CS:S, Portal, TF2 and some randomly downloaded models. I'm just wondering which one adds the most/best models. And probably which one has the best gameplay/story?
As I'm probably going to play the game itself too.

No point in buying HalfLife 2 because all source games come with the files already.
I'd suggest Episode 2 just because a lot of maps use the tree models etc.
Just get all of them if you are going to play them.

Okay. So EP 2 brings the most new and usefull models into Gmod?
Half-Life 2 is even cheaper than Half-Life 1.

Out of the HL games yes, since it comes with all the standard HL2 content + all the new stuff from EP2.
Just get the three of them. They're great games and it's cheap overall.
If you didn't already have Portal and TF2 I would have recommended the Orange Box; as of far, I recommend getting HL2 and the two Episodes. Lots of maps use Episode 2; less so with Episode 1 but I think it's cheaper in a bundle anyways.
Episode 2!
As everyone said before, EP2 has probably the most used content. But you should invest in the full Half Life 2 series to make sure you'll have ALL the models and textures you need. They'll probably go on sale again if you really don't have the cash for them now.

And if he has TF2 and Portal already it's a little pointless to buy the entire thing -- you can't even gift the extra copies of the game. Unless thats changed since I got it.

(My local town council uses comic sans on their mail-out bulletins. It tends to be fairly traumatizing.)
On a more serious note, the Orangutan Box is nowhere to be found on Steam.
