There was a gamemode long ago, it was called Garrysbots or something, You got a heart and then you needed to build a contraption to surround the heart. Then you went into battle and tried to destroy the other player's contraption.

Not really, we would really need another Robot Wars -esque gamemode, Garrysbots is horribly outdated and broken by the updates.
i just have my friends all make some sort of small unmanned contraption, then they batle. things never break or get destroyed, though.
