• Custom background refuses to load

I made a custom background in photoshop to test out the VTF plugin. It's 1024x1024 VTF Setting I used on the VTF plugin for the export was "Normal compressed texture" or something. I can't get gmod to show the background though. Most I got was, during that blue progress bar, it showed up. Before and after that, the default one. Any help?
Check that the name is background01.vtf and that its in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\your steam name\garrysmod\garrysmod\materials\console
Yep, it's named correctly and it's in the right folder. (Except you put the path for CS:S, but it's pretty much the same for Gmod)
Woops, sorry.
I've been getting the same problem. I would guess that Garry made it so you can't have custom backgrounds or something, but then you'd think he'd say something about it, and more people would be making threads for this.
Yeah... I don't think it is that (or at least, I hope it isn't) Annoying problem :(
No. I had a custom background a while ago: Try downloading one of the remade backgrounds and modify the VTF Like this one: http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=48690
Will do, I'll edit this post with the results. -EDIT- Well, it didn't work :( The background + music worked fine, but when I modified the background to my own, it did what it was doing before. EG Showing up during that little blue progress bar, but then switching to the default cone-on-gman's-head background Maybe my settings are wrong in the VTF Export dialog? What settings SHOULD they be at?
Please? I really want to get this working :/
