I never understood what scripts what kinds of admins? How come shitty lets not RP DM servers stay full? I dunno. Maybe you guys could tell me. I basically want to know what is going on with RP and how my server [b]COULD[/b] make it better.
- Arresting rather than banning when people DM (since it's more RP)
- Admins available
- Large, expensive 64-slot servers with maps that are not Rp_Downtown_V2
- A community forum where players can chat while they're not in-game.
Well if it was a bad rp server it wouldnt be sittin here discussin it with ya now would it?
As a leader and founder of an RP community that's lasted three years, let me say that there's a few key things that hold an RP community together:
-Actual Community Sense. Make people who are involved feel like they're being welcomed and accepted. A player who feels outcast isn't going to stick around long.
-Good RPers, regardless of what RP it is. I've seen DarkRP taken properly, and it was great (if I remembered what server it was, I'd be a regular there). No mingebags, no exploiters, and no knee-jerk reactions for DMing. Good RP will encourage good RP within members worth having. With your regular crew, getting regulars is a must.
-Mature, Responsible, and Dedicated RPers. Don't do these, "Give Money or give name and you'll get ADMINZ! :D!!!!!!!!" things that I see now and then, because you might get someone who isn't fit for the job. Adminship is like a job, and if they can't take it and do their job well, you should remove them ASAP because they are hurting your server and its community.
-Keep RP interesting by having plenty to do. Perhaps it's a special event or a large amount of possibilities and opportunities, just find a way to make things interesting and keep them interesting.
-Don't focus so much on Size of the server, as you should Quality of RP. Two people can make awesome RP, which is better than a 24-player server full of DM.
-Make yourself different. You're going to need some sort of perk to stand out from the overflowing sea of DarkRP remakes out there.
-A Capable leader who knows best. Simple enough, but when things get bad, you're going to need to be the iron fisted ruler to bring order back.
-Don't get bummed out. Stick with it regardless of anything.
