I've tried many many times to get a listen server to work in Garrysmod, but I just can't get it to work. It's really strange too, because according to the Server Hosting Guide here, my internet connection could handle a server with over 40 people. I can host a Left 4 Dead server too. I'm not sure why I can't for garrysmod, and i'm hoping someone here could help me.
So far I have:
Forwarded the ports 27015, 27010, 27005 for TCP and UDP.
Forwarded the above ports for my firewall.
Tried hosting on a clean install of Garrysmod.
Sv_lan 0 and heartbeat in console.
I think the problem is that it's using my internal instead of external IP, but I could be wrong. My internet connection is Comcast and it has 20mb/s download and 3mb/s upload. My virus protection/firewall is McAfee. My router is a Belkin N+. Once again I can host Left 4 Dead servers without and trouble at all. Could someone please help me?

I gave myself a static IP adress, it looks like it's working. But my friends say they can't see it. It appears in my server list with the external IP adress, but not my friends
Then tell them the external IP. A listen server is only good if you want to play with your friends.
I fixed the problem. Turns out I just had to use a dedicated server instead of a listen server. v:v:v
