Always when I playing multiplayer on Garry's mod the game crash and it says you have run out of OS paged pool memory. What can I do to fix it?
I have the same, but the game don't crash. It just says in the top left (or was it right?) corner that I have run out of OS paged pool memory. I also get that in TF2.
Just increase it! It is somewhere in the settings.
Control panel > System settings > Advanced > Advanced tab > Performance.
Could anyone explain what this is?
Could anyone explain what this is?
paged pool memory is virtual memory stored on your harddisk. Your computer will use it when you don't have enough ram to use.
Isak seems to be short on ram, so when he plays gmod, it reaches its limit. It then uses the paged pool memory which also gets full. In order to fix that he has to increase the limit.
Edit:
How much ram do you guys have?
My specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
Memory: 1024MB RAM
Video Card: RADEON 9600 SERIES
I run everything on low :(
I got a gig of ram capsadmin.
I get the message too.
Let me make a little guide on how to fix this.
Step one: Right click on My computer and click properties.

Step two: If you're on Vista, a window will pop up called System. You'll need to click advanced system settings. If you're not on Vista then skip to the next step.

Step three: Click on the advanced tab at the top, then click on the first settings button.

Step four: Then click on the advanced tab at the top, then the change button in the middle.

Step five: Take the tick out of the automatically manage box, then click on the custom size circle, then change the amount to a larger size than you have now and then finally click set.

Step six: Restart your computer and enjoy Garry's Mod!
Sorry about the MS paint, this is my new computer and I only installed Vista on it an hour ago. Also, if I missed anything then feel free to send me a message. Oh and if it messes up your computer, you've done something wrong. Not my fault.
Sometimes this can occur because you page file is corrupt, too. Simply set the max size to 0, restart and put it back and it should fix.
OS Page Pool memory is different to Virtual memory.
To fix it, simply lower your resolution or graphical settings. There is a registry setting that can be changed to increase OS Page Pool memory but i found it didn't seem to make any difference.

What driver error? You just need to re-run the test.
What driver error? You just need to re-run the test.
I did. Five times. It's stuck at 1.0 for some reason. :( And you linked to the wrong picture.
Oh and by the way increasing the virtual mem does help, my friend had this exact error, as soon as he increased it, no more errors.
Hmm ok, mine goes to 1.0 because the first time I run windows the graphics driver isn't installed so it reads my graphics card as 1.0. After I install the drivers and re-run the test, it goes back to normal. Also, I'll link to the right one.

Hm, I just did it again and it's shot up to 5.9 now. Eh, weird. I wonder why it didn't pick that up after I installed the drivers and did it? Oh well, thanks anyways.
Has anyone increased the virtual memory and the error gone away yet? Just curious.

Increasing the virtual memory does fix this.

It's probably because the pool is closed.
I only get this when playing big maps like rp and zs
and on single player as well

Sorry for bumping an old topic, if applicable, but I would like to point out something: Paged memory is not the same as paged pool (kernal) memory. And unfortunately, it's not as easy as increasing your paging file. Paged pool memory is, for the most part, used by your system, DirectX, and anti-virus system(s). Generally, these AV systems will not grant the game more memory as it increases, thus crashing. It seems like you have to edit the registry to increase this, but more simply, steam puts it:
... If you are running any sort of instant messaging application such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, or AOL Instant Messenger, try closing these applications before you launch the game...
We have found that certain anti-virus applications allocate a large amount of paged pool memory that cannot be freed until the anti-virus software is fully uninstalled from the system.
(Steam Support Center)
They recommend first that you simply disable the AV program first, though.
Anyways, I hopes this makes things easier for you guys!
Oh that thing. My paged pool was like 2000-1500 something but since i got lag from this one oblivion mod i had to change it to 500-800.
i wrote down the excat paged pool numbers but i cant find em ;[

I had a laptop worse than that
You can handle medium
just no AA

I tried but it wouldn't let me change it? I've been having this issue for SO long now and I'm actually starting to get sick of it... I'm not a huge computer genius so please if i get a reply... put it in simple terms ;)
Speaking from a point in which many users have already said, is there any solution to this? I have tried several different tricks to try to get it to work with no luck. Not only is it messing with my Gmod, it is starting to screw up my Hammer Editor too. I really need a fix for this. Using my G13 gamepad, I can see that when in Garrysmod on a server, I run up to about 78% of my RAM. My Specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU 2.40 GHz
Radeon HD 4800 Series
3.25 GB of RAM
Like I said before, I have tried several attempts to fix it already, and I am about to go buy some more RAM to see if that will fix it. Its really starting to annoy me, and if anyone can provide a solution it would be greatly appreciated. (Oh and one last thing, I have already deleted AVG 8 Free, that fixed it for a short time.)
There is no cure, simply get some mroe ram and a bigger CPU unfortanitly, damn it garry when will you make GMod not a resource fucking hogger. :rage:
I have 3 GB of RAM. Doesn't happen to me.
Sorry for bumping a super old topic, but changing your Virtual Memory does fix the problem. Basically the problem occurs when your computer isn't happy with the amount of Virtual Memory you are letting it use. The solution to this is simple (I only know how to do it from XP, so that is all that will be shown).
First, you need to pull up your My Computer Window. We should all know where this is located, but if you don't, its in your Start Menu at the bottom left of your Task Bar. Once you are at this page:

Right click on. A drop down window should appear, once it does, go down and click on"properties". Once you have done that, a "System Properties" window should open up:

From here you want to go to the "Advanced Tab", and then click on the "Settings" button in the "Performance" Section. After that, a "Performance Options" window should appear:

Once this has been opened, you want to go to the bottom, and in the "Virtual memory" section, click on the "Change" button. once that is complete, a "Virtual Memory" window should appear:

At the bottom of this window, it should the Recommended amount of Virtual memory that the computer should be aloud to use for its initial size. For example, mine is 4987 MB. There should be an area where you can insert two numbers, and these areas should be called "Initial size (MB)" and "Maximum size (MB)". You are going to want to take the recommended size and put it into the initial size slot. Then for the maximum, you simple double the initial and put that in there. For example, 4987 x 2 = 9974. Once that is complete, click the "Set" button, and then click okay. If I remember correctly, you will have to restart your computer before the change will take affect, but this should get rid of the problem for you.
