I've seen on some page that it said that Garry won't use the L4D engine for GMOD, but instead the Episode Three engine when it comes.
Can't remember where though.

He himself said that he most likely will skip all the L4D builds as they are forks off the main engine. And may possibly upgrade to the Ep3 engine if the want is great enough. Or something along those lines.
