So I'm on my server with some friends... and we felt like having a little NPC Fight with Antlions, zombies and such. And i found that there were no npc sounds which i thought was shit if we are doing a npc fight, and we cant really do npc fights without sound. (We can but it's very crap)
Single-player npc sounds are fine for some reason
Only EP2 NPC sounds work, and i don't own HL2, can that be the problem? (This is a dedicated server)

I unfortunatley havethe same problem, we are working to fix this and I'll keep you posted. Tell me, does your ingame voicechat still work? and are you using ASSmod?

Ok We have fixed the problem for the sounds, lets hope we can fix yours in the same way!
1st of all did you follow the Dedicated Server Setup (Gmod) on the gmod wiki? If so You will have done what we did, and installed the HL2, HL2ep1 e.t.c. files as instructed (extracting the files your told to) What it doesnt tell you is to Extract the GCF in your steamapps folder called 'source 2007 binaries.gcf' - this wants to be extracted in full to the *serverfilepath*\orangebox folder. E.g mine is D:\HLServer\orangebox
you now also want to go back to steamapps and find 'source engine.gcf' - this wants to be extracted to the main server file. E.G mine is D:\HLServer
This should fix ALL sounds EXCEPT for Episode 1. I think this is just the Zombine, but never fear! I have the solution! The dedicated server setup page asks you to extract the episode 1.gcfs to your main server area (once again for me, D:\HLServer) BUT if you extract Episode 1 shared.gcf to your orangebox folder aswell, hey presto, Episode 1 sounds :D

Your solution fixed all my MP (dedicated server) NPC sounds issues. Somebody needs to please get that wiki updated! :)
