When I walk in gmod or fly around in no clip, my screen stutters, whether having vsync on or off. However, when I'm in a vehicle, the game never stutters, and runs perfectly smooth, like it should. Why is the game stuttering only when I move my character?!

I fixed my stuttering without artifacts from putting my screen refresh on 75, if your computer screen cant go any higher then your out of luck and you have to deal with it. all flatscreens have the same problem with vertical sync. If its not vertical sync as your problem then i dont know? sorry.
Put your refresh on " 75 Hz.
Yeh, this isn't really related to my problem, but I do appreciate the suggestions.
I'm saying that with Vsync on or Off, my Frame rate is perfectly fine, its just when I move my character with the arrow Keys ONLY, the game stutters. When I turn my characters head in one direction, the game ironically does not stutter at all and when I'm in a moving vehicle, controlling it with my keys or not, the game does not stutter at all. This never was a problem until some update was released for gmod. Its such a weird issue and if anyone has a solution I'll be amazed.
what is your average fps?
Its about 160 FPS vysnc off and always 60 with vsync on
I not sure think FPS has much to do with this since the problem is only happening when I use my keyboard to move.
It says , Nvidia settings - Global , If you put Maximum pre rend frams on low? it might make it not stutter, Im not sure, I cant really help you any more friend :(
Have you played online, or offline yet? Have you installed any addons? Did it do this since purchase, or is this a new thing?
I really doubt it has to do with your monitor, or graphics card.
Maximum Pre rend frams, makes any plugged in object ( keyboard, mouse, speakers, ) it makes it run alot more smooth, from what Iv read?

No, this is with no mods or addons installed, on a fresh installation of windows 7, on a dual boot single hard drive. E8500, ATI 4870, 4gb of ram.

Any more suggestions? I'm pretty sure my HD, GPU, CPU, and RAM aren't the cause of this since its smooth when in a vehicle or when using my mouse.

I get stuttering if I leave the game running for long periods of time (IE. leaving the game running overnight and coming back the next day.) having tons of addons can also cause it.

It's incorrect clientside collision predictions. That has nothing to do with addons.
Absolutely NO addon will cause studering only when moving the character.Since it stutters only when moving outside of a viechel it could actualy be a bug only with moving as in smooth movement of the character from point A to point B.I suggest you try spinning the mouse (to move the view as much as possilbe) and seeing if it will do anything.If the view moves but the character still stutters then its a bug involving only the movement from point to point.If not the whole game is lagging wich is another issue.

I have no addons installed. When I move my mouse, its super smooth, when I move in a vehicle, its super smooth. When I walk with the WASD keys, it stutters.
This is a bug from moving point to point, I know this for sure. How can I possibly fix this?
Odd, just installed CSS and it runs smooth with no problems at all.
You guys know any console commands I can try or something like that?
Any more ideas?
Everything was fine yesterday, but I just started Gmod up after the new update and now player movement is stuttering, just as described in this thread. Only local servers are affected.
It appears to be a prediction issue, since I will "rubber band" back a couple of steps after I let go of the movement keys, but cl_predict 0 had no effect.
This is HILARIOUS, after the updates, ITS SMOOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .... time to spend so much time on Gmod.......
