What do you dislike about current RP gamemodes and what would you like to see in a new one?

Title pretty much sums it up. I'm just doing some research while working on a gamemode.
I'm fairly sure there's quite a bit of agreement that the scripts should have less impact on the gameplay than it does currently. The players should be playing a role, not forced into one via scripting. Having basic systems to manage money, transfer of goods, storage of goods and money, etc. seem fairly necessary to some extent. But job systems and the like are fairly pointless, if you are actually any good at RP, you shouldn't need it, you should just be able to play the role.
Over the top interfaces, silly PP effects, all that kind of thing. What is the purpose of them? Keep it simple, keep it effective, keep it lightweight enough for people to be able to drop-in/out with ease. You have an entire 3D world around you to interact with, avoid having to rely on ye olde text based roleplay, you should be able to perform actions within your role in the world, no RNG, no silly reliance on /me. Use the world.

That thread pretty much shows how fun rp can be if done right
For me, there are a good handful of things that I dislike and they aren't all related to the gamemodes themselves.
Usually, it has to do with who is running the server, and how much useless content is being downloaded, for me at least. I'm sure some servers have external download links for content packs but I've seen a lot that don't.
I'm sure RP gamemodes can be fun but I haven't played on any that I enjoy. If you ask me it probably has a bit to do with theme, and if you go outside the same DarkRP/Half Life 2/Apocalyptic themes and come up with something a bit more unique, that alone could make a big difference. Good documentation could help too.
I've sort of been secretly planning a gamemode with RP-esque elements with more automation, something the players themselves can handle on their own without an admin needing to babysit them 24/7. Honestly, I don't know much of RP gamemodes other than what I've seen.
hrm. Not the kinda RP i ment. Forgive my ignorance :P Who's interested in me remaking this:

So, RPG. There is quite a difference between the two :v:
There aren't many out and about right now, so as long as it has some depth, and isn't stupidly made people should be happy.
Sadly my source is long gone, i gotta remember how i hacked the player entity to look around and everything.

If you can't figure out issues within roleplay gamemodes on your own, you shouldn't be making a roleplay gamemode.

I agree. I was asking for peoples opinions.
Watching you on twitch, I think maybe weapons should lock on

Now think about melee weapons.
i will have them lock on within about 64 units
Should make a new thread on this, I have some more questions but I don't actually know what you're planning
Yeah, this escalated quickly. I'll start a new one in a moment.
