I start gmod, the menu sounds work fine. I load a game, it's muted. Clean install...
Gmod is doing what he wants, we can't stop it. Only garry can I guess. It's going crazy since the "fix" update that fixed almost all the bugs, but, this could have another source. But, Sorry, I really don't know.
The correct term would be 'mute' not deaf, unless your mic isn't working either. Does your ellipses indicate you have already tried a clean install?
Thanks for being a smartass.
Do this: 1.Stop Steam 2. go to program files\steam\steamapps\username\ and delete the entire garrysmod folder so there is nothing left of garrysmod 3. reinstall -- If that doesn't work then: 1.go to C:\Windows\System32\ 2.Delete these 2 things: SHELL.DLL and Shell32.dll Your garrysmod should then work. Hope this helped :v: (User was banned for this post ("Trolling" - grea$emonkey))
Or you could not listen to advice that would cripple your computer, and instead try out one of the options listed here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2918-QGHC-3562
Yeah. I wouldn't to that either. Doing a hard-uninstall leaves traces anyway. You need to do it from Steam. Period. Preying on Noobs. Oh, well.
Is any other sound working? It could be your sound card. This has happened to me before. A couple clean reboots seemed to remedy it for me.
All other games work fine. The menu sounds work fine until I load a map. Started in the most recent update. Computer restart didn't help, I tried earlier.
The correct term would be 'mute' not deaf, unless your mic isn't working either. Does your ellipses indicate you have already tried a clean install?
shouldn't it be "My audio is muted" not "Is mute" and you also contradicted yourself I think. I'm confused :ohdear:
Maybe your volume slider in the sound options is set to zero?
If he haves Vista / Win7, that could be the problem.
I have win7. Could you elaborate?
Do you know where do find your Volume Mixer? You go to your taskbar, there search for the sound icon, press it and click Mixer, and while you are in GMod, look what your Mixer says (0%, 100%, whatever)
I fixed the problem by changing it from muting all, to doing nothing.
Lol, had the same problem once.
