Help with Graphics - Garry's Mod

So this happens with Gmod and TF2... At first when i start the game, everything is all good. Until i get a lag..and after that huge lag, this is what i get.. [url]http://i775.photobucket.com/albums/yy33/Spm1lp/WTF-1.jpg[/url] I have a -Nvidia GeForce FX 5600 -1.70 GHz - + 1 gb ram -9.0.0c direct X -have the latest drivers So yeah..my graphic card is old..but why would it all be nice quality at the begining, and all of a sudden, when i get lag, it all fucks up? If you have an idea of a fix, please tell me : )

Check the temps to make sure nothing is overheating and causing artifacts.

It's probably overheating as you play. Get a new computer.

I think that your video card is overheating. Same thing happened to me with my old nvidia card. If so, open up your pc and vacuum all vents.

Also, consider getting a new processor, and 2 more gigs of ram. I never heard of the GPU before, so I'm stumped on that part. If you need a referance, here's my specs: Intel GMA 4500m Intel Pentium dual core @ 2.10 ghz 3 gb ram and direct x 9. I can play Source engine games at max, in HD res (1366x768) and is a laptop.

On an intel integrated? Ha ha how about no.

It's not as simple as buying new parts. His mobo is probably really old and only has a PCI/AGP slot of graphics cards, the ram is probably like DDR or DDR2. It would be a waste of money to upgrade. It's best to build a new computer.

OP if you need a new card, look into ATI's 4 series that fit into AGP slots.
