Hey so im trying to play Garry's mod with my girlfriend and im having a problem (If any of you say anything along the lines of "lol erectile disfunction" you is dead k)
My Gmod is fackin up big time. I am running a shitty laptop but thats not the point. it run fine before
I play in windowed mode because of my shit laptop and when i change to look at something while its loading (chrome, MSN, skype) and switch back. the screen is black BUT i can still hear the menu sounds when i move my mouse around. this has also happened while loading a server to play on
Much appreciated if you folks can help me
EDIT: BTW i have tried the dxlevel81/80 solution, although i dont know if going to garrys mod properties and launch options via steam works
P.S: Running Windows XP SP3 on a Toshiba Sattelite M50 (5 years old) with 512MB of RAM

Also: 512mb RAM is nowhere NEAR enough for the game (basically ignore the "Minimal Requirements")
Yeah, this happens to me a lot.
It only seems to happen when i'm typing in multiplayer.
