Quick idea of being able to change the properties of things like ropes, hydraulics, winches... without having to remove it and re add it, which would be pretty useful if they are important to your contraption.
Way to do this would be if you look at one, it has white outlines like an entity, and if your looking at it, using the Q menu (Or the context menu) you can adjust the width and other properties.
Wire is for exact heights and such. I suggest using wire hydraulics and a smoother gate.

Are they exactly the same? How long have you been using it?
Wire hydraulics work like normal, but you can change the heights with wire. This means you can have multi-floor lifts if you work it out.
I think he means width and texture, etc.
actually i found out a way to do this listen good:press the C key on your keyboard hold it down then move your mouse and change the options it works with all tools
