Specs: Notebook: Packard Bell dot Processor: Intel Atom N270 (1.60 GHz) Graphics Adapter: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 (Recently Updated) Random Access Memory: 0.98GB (Possibly 980MB?) As already stated, whenever running the game anywhere above DX79 in Launch Options, the game crashes after ~30-50 seconds with the message that says "the memory could not be 'read'" and random numbers in before that.
Intel Graphics Cards and Garry's Mod don't mix very well. 'Nuff said.

I run it on Windows 7 with Intel Graphics card (The same netbook actually), and it works great on DXLevel 90. [editline]02:04AM[/editline] Scratch that - DXLevel 100 (DirectX 10 mofo')
Source doesn't run DirectX 10. It's DX9 or lower. Period.
Uh, no, they've updated it to run DX10, Mingebag.
Uh, no, they've updated it to run DX10, Mingebag.
Please cite your source.
Okay that's currently intel least powerful line of CPU and chipset. No games runs on that.
Uh, no, they've updated it to run DX10, Mingebag.
Uh, no.
Uh, no, they've updated it to run DX10, Mingebag.
No.
Uh, no, they've updated it to run DX10, Mingebag.
I laughed.
I run it on the EXACT SAME NETBOOK, with the SAME INTEL CHIP, on Windows 7 and DX10. Works like a charm on highest settings with ~40-50 fps.
The source engine, my friend, runs with directx 9. You may have directx 10 installed, but it nonetheless runs on dx9. I myself have directx 11; Still running source on dx9. Also, on topic, such graphics cards ain't the strongest, and as the people have already said, it doesn't work too well with the orange box engine/garry's mod.

Windows 7 has directx 11 installed by default. :)
Ah.
how do you revert back to your original video settings, I accidentally did -dxlevel 10 (that idiot above said and thought it would run in direct x 10), now it runs in direct x 7.0........I need to revert back to the current direct x 9.0c version or direct 10x (I have downloaded the latest drivers from the direct x11 site)
Well first of all, bump. Second, right click on Gmod in your games list, then properties, then set launch options. Type in "-dxlevel 90" without quotes. When typing in the DXlevel, just remove the decimal point on the sersion number, so DX 10 would become 100 and DX 8.1 would become 81.
I did, but I think the original settings on my hardware version choice was "Directx v9.0+" not just "Directx v9.0"....sigh I should of never even read this thread just to see if you could enable directx 10
