What happened to tricky's tutorials? - Garry's Mod

I went the for the first time in a while and the entire forum has disappeared. look [url]www.trickystutorials.com[/url] Anybody know what happened? I'll miss that site if it's gone...

Judging by reading basically the first post, their server is having troubles.

It's been gone for a few days. I'm not sure if they lost all the posts there though, because that would be the worst thing >:(

Our server died after a Windows automatic update, Constantly blue screened on bootup. Our options were either re-image the machine, or pay loads of money to have them go in and fix it. in8600 decided to dump them as a host, and to purchase top notch server equipment to collocate near where he lives so if there is ever an issue again, he can easily fix it. Damn. I don't go to the TT forums, but that sucks.

Good opportunity to clean out all the old stuff and start clean, plus we should have a better setup this time around with better hardware, which should give us better perfomance.

We had backups, but they were all on the machine itself. We didn't expect the whole system to just flat out die. Our new system will allow for that possibility though, so we don't run into the problem of losing two years of Stranded stats and several thousand forum posts.

I've had the same install of Gentoo Linux on my servers since 2005. EDIT: Also, find recovery software like Encase and get them to send you the image of the HDD. I was going to try and learn some GPU/console screen wire and shit and I go there and I just say 'The fuck' :< Best of luck with the new server.

Yup definitely go with a web host that uses linux/unix, as like most hosts do, much less trouble. Looking forward to it coming back, though. I just barely caught it before it went down since I'm new to Garry's mod. Found it very helpful when it was around.

When TT is back up and running we are going to be bigger and better. Don't you guys worry. Our head honcho of everything tech on TT has been laying down some new bridgework to our server set-up and so far it sounds too good to be true. Thankfully, for the most part it is true. This time around we're not putting all of our eggs into one basket. And once in8600 gets done with work I think we'll see a great improvement on the system that TT had going on before. By the by, if you create an account and log into our temp forums you can see we are still active and alive. Alternatively you can join our vent and see what's up. I'll get the info when I'm back at home this evening.

If you have any problems with any of our admins, you can post a complaint on our forums, or PM it to one of the head administrators.
