• Steam Validation Rejected?

I have a horrible modem (Locked into using it) that often times out when connecting to games via the multiplayer menu in all my steam games. That isn't the real problem. What is an issue is that when I try to reconnect, I get to approximately "Parsing Game Info" before I receive the error: "Steam Validation Rejected" and am forced to return to the main menu. What could be causing this error and how can i fix it?
Do you legally own Garry's Mod?

Private profile.
Friends only, actually. Changed now. Hopefully it will work now :/ [editline]24th November 2010[/editline] I got a much better response to this issue on the steam forums but their advice didn't fix it so i asked here, if you were wondering.
Get a better modem? It's probably just your connection timing out and you being unable to connect to the steam servers.
I would but I'm not in charge of it. Also money is currently an issue. Any other options you could think of? People here seem to have some good ideas occaisionally
Try deleting the clientregistry.blob in your Steam directory.
Already have. no change.
shutoff steam go to your steam directory go to steamapps and delete winui.gcf, go back and delete clientregistry and start steam up. post results
It could be an issue with your authentication packet or you could be timing out when sending or receiving information to or from the server. Try it on a different network, if that doesn't work make a Steam support ticket.
Hahaha, steam doesn't work now, Buggzie! Good thing i made backups!
Hahaha, steam doesn't work now, Buggzie! Good thing i made backups!
Really? You're meant to make it reload because it regenerates the file, that file contains your favorite servers, history etc (useless shit)
I launched it and when it tried to update steam for the missing clientregistry.blob it got to 29% and stopped. Literally. Task manager didn't even have a steam process.
This happened to me too! I own it legally, bought it years ago.
Happened one time when my internet had huge lag spike.
