Ok I have a bunch of newbie questions to ask so here I go!
1. How do I get my own online server? Is it something you have to pay for or is it free?
2. What addons would you reccommend for me to get?
3. What games should I have for playing garrysmod?
4. What are some fun things to do in garrysmod?
5. What Stools do you reccommend for me to get?
1: [url=http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=581128]You can host a server on your own computer for free[/url], or pay to get someone else to host for you. I can't help you with finding good hosts online, though. I've never tried it.

3: A lot of Gamemodes use CSS models, so that's a good game to get.
4: If you can't think of anything to build/do in Gmod, why did you buy it in the first place?
5: If you are NOT hosting a server using the "Create Multiplayer" button (which I don't think you are since you asked about paying for a server), you don't need any STools at all. If you ARE hosting using that button, you should get Weight tool, Smart Constraint/weld tool, Advanced Stacker, Multi Nocollide tool, and maybe some others (If you want to host a dedicated server you should get these tools for that server).
1. I'm not sure, but i think you have to pay for it every month. Of course you can make a LAN server for free.
2.Wiremod and PHX3
3. U should definetaly get Counter Strike Source, most of servers need it. And of course - Half Life 2
4. Build stuff and play in multiplayer.
5.There are so many of them. I mostly recommend Stacker

You can also host a dedicated server for free.
You don't need to get HL2. All HL2 props come with GMod.
