I added fast download to my server using my host as a webserver. I read on the wiki to use bzip to compress everything and shit, and I've been doing that. The only thing I have on here though is maps, because I want them to download quickly. But, I read on the wiki that I must put my cached/dua on there no matter what, and I must update it every time I modify my addons. Since I only have my maps on there, is it really necessary to upload the cached dua every time? Also, I don't know if it matters, but I've been bzipping the cached dua everytime, and since it's like 1000+ files, its a really lengthy process to download, bzip, and add to the webserver. Is it necessary to bzip them? Or are they so small of files that it's not necessary. Thanks.
Bzip .dua files O.o.
No pressing need to ;)
But you do have to upload it every time you change a clientside script. Otherwise, your clients will likely get screwed up graphics.
AKA if you upload a new lua VGUI, no .dua = no VGUI on client.
Er I mean like when I update my SVNs, do I need to update my cached?
If I were you, I'd update the cached if you update svns and anything as changed. You don't need to bzip dua files, as they aren't really downloaded in the way that they're used. If you look at the sizes, it all totals to around 2 mb any how.
Alright, thanks. Now just need to get rid of the join crash bug! :)
