Cause I still get lag sometimes in overly populated or jsut weird places: AMD Athlon II x2 250 Roger 3.0 Ghz 2 x 2 GB DDR3 ram 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA HDD NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a GPU Windows XP Pro x32 bit Service pack 3 GPU is built into the motherboard and CPU socket is AM3 so I figure I could upgrade both, but was wondering if it was necessary or not. Im using standard settings that you use after you plug everything in, the only thing that I changed was so the two 2gb sticks of ram work as one instead of working separately. Also I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit that I was thinking of installing, should I?

Intergrated graphics never work well with gmod

That IGPU should be able to run GMOD on medium low, but it's utter crap
Everything is fine except the graphics, you need a graphic card. The radeon hd 4850 is a good deal.
That IGPU should be able to run GMOD on medium low, but it's utter crap
Yea when I joined a game that had realistic guns ( muzzle blur adn flash, and smoke) lagged like crazy.
In terms of graphics cards, you should get at least an ATI Radeon HD 5650 (I highly recommend ATI over Nvidia).

Computer will explode
Computer will explode
Possibly.
A medium-range GPU will do the job of running GMod properly.
(I highly recommend ATI over Nvidia).
You should always take the opinion of a fanboy's words as a grain of salt
Let us add some more fanboyism in this thread. Okay here we go:
LOL ^^^^^^^ Any aside from just being a "Fanboy", ATI a better choice then nvidia?
Any aside from just being a "Fanboy", ATI a better choice then nvidia?
No. There may be better nVidia alternatives depending on your budget.

Well, I'm running a 256 meg Gforce 9300, and I run gmod at my 1680x1050 at high-very high settings with no difficulty. It's not just whether you're running an integrated or not, it's what kind of integrated you have. My CPU is killer and I have 4 gigs of ram so that helps to smooth things out. I do get lag in huge explosions such as those made by nukes, or when I have too many lamps or other dynamic lights.

I recommended ATI over Nvidia because I've had far more problems with Nvidia cards than with equivalent ATI ones. I'm not a fanboy. Anyway, ATI offers better value for money and more range than Nvidia according to many reviews and magazines. My recommendation was rational.
I recommended ATI over Nvidia because I've had far more problems with Nvidia cards than with equivalent ATI ones.
Funny thing is, most people experianced the complete opposite. Do explain what your "problems" are
Anyway, ATI offers better value for money and more range than Nvidia according to many reviews and magazines.
Price? Maybe. Range? No.
Funny thing is, most people experianced the complete opposite. Do explain what your "problems" are Price? Maybe. Range? No.
You mean people that sell nvidia cards and want to market their stuff by talking shit?
Funny thing is, most people experianced the complete opposite. Do explain what your "problems" are
I've had three Nvidia cards in the past, two of which had major crashing problems. It seemed to be an overheating problem but I never found out for sure. Every couple of minutes or sometimes even more frequently the screen would blank for ten seconds or more before returning to the desktop with an error message. I've had two ATI cards (and my current card is ATI) and neither have had any issues.
Price? Maybe. Range? No.
Last time PC Pro did a full set of reviews on the modern ATI and Nvidia graphics cards, there were only three Nvidia cards, each of similar power and price. There were at least 10 ATI cards increasing in power and price in steps. Unless you want one of Nvidia's 'old' cards, ATI offers more range as I see it. Keep your opinions, however, and I will keep mine. If you want me to explain my opinions, then I will as best I can.
Intergrated graphics never work well with gmod
Not true im on ati 3200 runs fine with most settings on high. 5870 though soon
