ok then, ive already had a thread like this, but i still cant seem to figure out how to add add ons (from garrysmod.org)
i would like it of someone could post the EXACT path for stuff u get off the internet. I have it for mac and i know how to get to the garry's mod folder in my steam, but after that im lost....
So like (e.g. garry's mod, add ons, something ect ect)
any help would be appreciated

lol, ima idiot, but do i leave it in the folder that its it is downloaded in? (say i downloaded scars do i take everything out of the scar folder or do i put the whole scar folder in addons?) and my other ? is does everything elese i download EG maps, backrounds go there to or do they have other speacial folders?
If folder has info.txt inside, then put it in addons folder
So it would be for you Garrysmod-> garrysmod-> addons -> scar (in scar folder are now info.txt and some folders like lua, models, materials)
If you extract a map, then look inside the folder where you extracted it, if it has info.txt, it goes into addons, if it doesn't, then simply to garrysmod-> garrysmod-> maps
Backgrounds should go to garrysmod-> garrysmod -> materials.
So in addons folder there are many other folders, in this case if you install SCars, there are two folders, Scars and toybox.

also dont forget to extract the thing you downloaded from gmod.org, you cant put a zip file in there, you have to unpack it. like, that katana winrar file, wouldn't work, because its a rar(which is like a zip).

ok i have also found another garrysmod folder in my "downloads" folder, that only contains addons materials and particles. i put scars in there to and it doesnt work either

Get to the steam folder. Get to the garrysmod folder. There's a garrysmod folder inside of it. Open it. Then there should be an addons folder. Put it in there. :doh:

Also, you have to put the folder containing the addon into the addons folder. For example, steamapps/garrysmod/garrysmod/addons/radarv2
ZIP/RAR FILES ARE *NOT* FOLDERS! You must extract the folder from the ZIP/RAR file and then put it into the addons folder! Screenshots are left, right and centre, it's seriously not difficult!
YES I KNOW IVE DONE ALL OF THIS!! I put everything where its supposed to go, and YES, i have extracted them too. i think maybe a system problem? Prehaps re-installing?

Well you should look for the SCars section of the tools menu and the Car Spawner STool.
This is what the inside of SCars should look like when it's inside your addons folder.

Either THAT'S the problem, or you just didn't notice that you actually HAD installed it, and it actually works. It has happened to me. Do all the SCar Stools show up in your Q menu?

moved to momomo544, garrysmod, garrysmod, addons
