Just post what you think about a totally new or updated engine for gmod?
I personaly would pay for a new gmod with an engine that is new and less laggy.
I mean really wouldn't be awesome to have 40 - 100 PEOPLE on one server with no lag?!?!?!?!
So yeah just post here
40-100 people with no lag is not a realistic goal.
Switching engines would throw away all the work that's been put into GMod and probably wouldn't improve anything (Source is a great engine). It would be a rewrite of the game.
The reason GMod is laggy is because you're synchronizing the physics of a ton of props (among other things), which is unusual and strenuous for any game on any engine.
There was less 'laggy' versions of source engine used in previous versions of Gmod. You should download Gmod9.
No to update, we have enough problems as it is.
ok your all right i agree

It has been done. SAMP can handle upto 500 players on. Though that is a very different case.

The actual problem is the outdated Physics-Engine and the shitload of lua people have installed. In terms of graphics Source has good possibilities.
GMod can handle 75 players as long as there is no props involved.
Why not do exactly the same thing they did to Gmod 9. Slowly fade through to a new version. I would pay $50 for a game of Gmod, if its better than it is now. I've always wanted for a "open" community to create a world featuring everything by everyone.
