• Lua Scripting! Time to make your first addon!

Well, I am not one to say for myself, but I am curious, for the lua coders out there, about how long it took you to make your very first addon in lua, from scratch...
An hour and a half if you mean developing time. About a year of doing private scripts before releasing any of my scripts.
From scratch? It took me 5 days,i had just a few informations about lua in my brain one year ago,and then i used the wiki bit by bit and everything became clearer about what i needed to do. Actually, knowing other programming languages helps a lot, since you don't need to understand what a variable is,the life of a variable in a scope, and stuff like that.
Well now that I think of it, I think that my first lua script was a stupendous attempt at using Jinto's renderx module, killed myself a few times before I made any progress on that.
Took me 30 seconds. It was an addon that printed "Hello World!" into the console.

Technically, it is. It's just not a very detailed one :buddy:
